My wife and I did the World War 2 and Op’ Anthropoid tour with Allen as our tour guide. As an enthusiast of WW2 history this tour encompassed an aspect of Prague that I very much wanted to see ‘the flesh’. It must be said that some of the subject matter of this tour is not for the faint of heart. That said, if you are familiar with Anthropoid and the repercussions, you would know this before you even start. Allen was both friendly, and knowledgeable, the geography of the tour really did bring home the horrors of occupation. Seeing the Gestapo headquarters, knowing what would have happened within the walls of the building at that time - if ever a building deserved to be haunted……..
The final destination on the tour, the crypt of St Cyril & Methodius, is very atmospheric and thought provoking experience. The strikes from small arms, and shrapnel damage, are hard evidence of the bravery - and ultimate price paid - of all involved. These men remind all who visit that freedom isn’t free.
Again, Allen really did do his best to bring the horrors of occupation, and the bravery of those who opposed it, to life.
Finally, I would like to thank Allen for everything as he really is a good guy who is passionate about his subject.
