Only reviewing a few months on as time just flies! We had visited Emeraude in Dec 2013 & returned in Oct 2015 - and yes, we will go again! We were AI again & I can confirm the hotel has done small changes which have increased it's appeal. Little shoulder massages on the beach, mini pizzas brought to you, excellent afternoon snacks & overall menu has improved with so much to offer & to name a few. If you travel in Dec you must understand that it's one of their busiest months & obviously service may be a little slower than usual due to their full capacity. This resort is not 5 stars in terms of amenities yes, it is definitely a 3 star & please remember you pay for that - but it has 1000 stars worth of joy. And when you factor in what you are paying, it's actually unbelievable what you get. The food, the rooms, the drinks, the on site treatment rooms - how I miss those massages!!!, the attentive & competent staff, the beach, the location, the trip to Ilse aux Cerfs, the glass bottom boat, the relaxed atmosphere - everything is just right. Sometimes things may not run as smooth as usual & perhaps it's not for you if you are so easily bothered & irritated - but let go & learn to laugh it off - its a holiday after all. Yes, maybe you see a bird nibbling at some just left breakfast - its an island!!?? When we stayed at a 5star in Zanzibar, it was the same. On both our stays we never met locals on the beach & our aircon worked perfectly. On our first evening of this trip, we actually experienced a run in with two youngish male guests who were staying with their parents & had a little too much to drink & became verbally abusive. We had never encountered that before in all our travels! The night manager acted very well & diffused the situation. The next day I was still visibly upset, but Ashok, the hotel manager, was so kind & such a pillar of strength - He rightly deserves his title as he certainly has all our safety in mind. He spoke to them & the hooligans were very quiet & apologetic for the rest of their trip. I was worried it would put a dampner on my mood but the hotel staff were extremely sweet & just being at Emeraude lifts your spirits. If you can please take the trip to the little island off the coast, Ilse Aux Cerfs - it is absolutely magical & beyond words. We also hired a car for three days of our 7 day trip & it is so worth it. We visited many of the places we didnt get to last time but there are still more! Each time we left, we got a cute picnic box filled with goodies. Mauritius is a definite tourist geared country - and Emeraude is perfectly placed to visit all the attractions. I state again - absolute value for money and we cant wait to return again! Thanks Emeraude for being our little piece of island heaven. More
