We were to fly from Athens to Santorini on 2/26/24 to return on 2/28/24 as we flew back to America on 2/29. We found out the morning of 2/26 that there was to be an air traffic controller strike (in conjunction with the public transportation strike). I called immediately to ask a rep what to do, and their rude rep said it wasn’t “official”, so they wouldn’t do anything other than offer a change. I asked her if their change included flying me back to America because we were to leave the next day. Shortly thereafter, it became “official”. We could get to Santorini on Monday but not back from there on Wednesday due to the strike. Because it was only a few hours before we were to fly out, we had to make the decision to cancel and were able to get back a little over half our money refunded. Anyway, if another airline is available, I would definitely fly with them. While we don’t make reservations with a thought of having to cancel, in our case with an impending strike, we were forced to. The first rep who wrote me back said the flights went as scheduled, so maybe they backed down on the strike (and I don’t even know how to check that). But when you have to make a decision and are told there is to be a strike, you have to make a decision based on info given, and we could not get stuck on another island hours away (by boat) from Athens.…
