Visiting Blacksburg and my cousin and her husband. We went to the Lyric theater to see the movie that was playing there. Not only did we love the movie, the update of the theater was lovely to see! I love old movie theaters and when they are updated and refurbished, oh my! So much beauty compared to the new theaters that are built today! Very good support from the Blacksburg community too! Nice to see :)

Arrived at a langhorne slim concert after it has started. Was turned away as if it were a secret government operation. The lady at the door lightly pushed me towards the door as I asked how much of the concert was left and how much entry would cost. Have had wonderful movie experiences at the luric, but clearly the concert staff is not welcoming

I'm sorry you had an unpleasant experience. We try very hard to provide excellent customer service. However, when I spoke to staff about the incident you described I was given quite a different explanation. The house manager stated that two inebriated young men came in quite late and wanted to come in without paying so she made them leave. If this is not an accurate description of events I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact me by email at execdirector@thelyric.com.

The Lyric Theater is a town classic with a touch of modern. The movies are not only old but produce the modern world as well. They support events and discounts and add a whole lot of flavor to our cozy town.

The Lyric is an excellent place to catch a new release, or even a rerun of a classic! It is a charming, restored historic theatre with plenty of character and cheap tickets. They offer a variety of films, excellent concessions, and friendly hospitality. I recommend attending the Lyric for your next movie adventure, especially if you don't want to break the bank at the new, modern box offices!

I love going to old movie theatres and the Lyric did not disappoint. It wasnā€™t too crowded, the staff was friendly, and the theater was big. Itā€™s in the heart of downtown Blacksburg so plenty to do right around there. Just allow time to park.

This is the number one place to see the best films in Blacksburg. So glad the theater was restored, but it still needs work. Some of the seats are in poor shape, but one learns what sections to avoid. We especially like the 10:00 a.m. Monday offerings to members. That is very convenient for older people.

Went with friends to see a film at the Lyric. Parking is going to be your first issue so be prepared to walk a ways to the theatre as it's near VT campus and little parking in front or close by.
The seats are small and uncomfortable. The sound was not very good where we were sitting in back right side.
But it does show those hard to find less known films and music . I like to support small local theatres but I won't return to this one .

We're sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to the Lyric. I'm assuming you came to an evening show since downtown is quite busy at night. Parking on campus is free after 5:00 and there are several parking lots and a parking garage withing three blocks of the theatre. As a historic theatre, our seats were designed before "stadium seating", when Americans were a tad bit smaller. We had the seats reupholstered during the renovation. Some may need to be redone and we are looking into it. We installed digital surround in 2013 so generally our sound is generally pretty good. However, there are some films, particularly British and foreign films that can be difficult to understand. I hope you will give the Lyric a second chance.

A lovely old restored movie house with updated equipment. Especially like Monday morning showings of films. It's a perfect time for those of us of a certain age. It's a non-profit and membership comes with some perks.
