The building called La Cilla contains the tourist office and the Museo La Frontera y los Castillos and is located at Plaza de la Iglesia. This museum explains medieval life in Olvera and shows how the castle was built with stone. There is a salon which shows a horse and has the figure of a man scaling the castle wall. There are recreations of food preparation during the medieval times and shows how people lived at that time. Outside there is a patio with a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside.

This is a castle on a rock, not in a rock. The climb just to get to the museum is not for the faint hearted. The climb to the castle certainly sorts out the weak hearted. Once at the top the castle is a bit of a disappointment but the views more than make up for it. Back down in the museum get some water from the fridge in the well stocked shop. You will need it on a hot day. Better still get it before your climb to the castle..... The museum is small but we'll exhibited. But no English here. The old photos are superb. Well worth the €2.00 entrance fee. Closed Mondays. Open from 11am.

Included in the 2 Euro price of admission to the castle with magnificent views, the museum
Has both an informative timeline of the reconquest of Spain and an impression of the life of the medieval inhabitants.

I wish more towns had a museum like this. It gives a good idea of what the Reconquista times were like in the region and in Olvera. Well organised, good displays and great photographs.

A few hands on items for curious kids, a lot of information in Spanish, and insight into times long gone.

This is a little museum in the Olvera and it is interesting see the history of the city. The museum is well-kept and you can see also tools that people used at that time. You can see also a reconstruction of a siege.

Admission included when you visit the castle, so why not stop in. I was very interested in reading about the history of the castle and it's importance during the various battles between the Christians and the Moors. Incredibly, the castle atop a rock in not far away Pruna was captured by the Christians who had the courage to simply scale the walls and overwhelm the defending Moors.

We visited the museum after our walk round the castle but it would have been much better to do it the other way round. There is little in the castle to tell you about it but the museum explains the life and history of the castle but only in Spanish.

The castle is located a delightful walk up the hill. The guided tour is mandatory and informative. The inside of the castle has been redone into a very interesting museum and is well worth the effort of taking the stiars.
