It was worth any effort to be in the presence of Christ's Body and Blood, no longer in the form of a communion wafer. Few people in a lifetime have the opportunity for such an experience. The scientific investigation was thorough and compelling. It was a moving and humbling experience. This 1200 yrs old mystery is truly beyond the scope of human comprehension.

Negatives include mid day closing, like it or not, the doors were closing and you had to go. There were laughing and shrieking children running up and down an adjacent walkway. The parents just stood and watched. This was not a place for any show of disrespect...shame to the parents who don't teach reverence. Strangers interrupted the 'fun'

Old church with its beautiful in an ancient town and its wonderful citizens. We spent 2 weeks in Lanciano, attended daily mass, kneel in front of the flesh and blood of Christ, we found the peace and the love of God overshadowed us and were able to celebrate our 41st anniversary with new Italian friends whose we met 2 days after we arrived Lanciano. If you are Catholic then this is a place you should come to feel the love of our God

We took some time to drive to Lanciano to visit this site. The miracle is in a beautiful church, as are most in Italy. A very holy site visited by many people of faith. I’m glad we stopped but I will also echo the fact that there is not much else in the town to attract a visit.

I won't recount the story here, but I do agree with a previous reviewer--be familiar with the miracle first so you understand what you are experiencing. We were fortunate to visit at the same time as a group of pilgrims from the US, so we had the opportunity to attend an English Mass during our visit. Simultaneously, there was a Mass in Portuguese, so check the website before you go. You might be able to join a group. One thing about the visit struck me as really odd--people were taking photos like crazy. It's not a tourist spot; it's a religious experience. At least there were no flashes going off.

If I only could see one thing during a trip to Italy this would be it. We spent an afternoon in Lanciano and had Mass and toured this church. The flesh and blood displayed for all to see. We had time to pray and just soak in this awesome miracle. They had information about the miracle and a great little gift shop. It's a must see if you are in the area.

Beautiful and open in the evenings. The attendant in the gift shop spoke English and was helpful. Allow at least an hour and a half to see.

This was such an unforgettable experience. If you are Christian, I urge you to go there. We drove about 3 hours to get there, and almost decided not to go because of the long drive. I'm so glad we made it! We did not have any time to walk around the town, but it is definitely a place that would be fun to visit on its own.

Religious or not, this is an interesting piece of catholic history. The church itself is impressive from the outside and somewhat sparse on the inside (do look up at the paintings on the ceilings). The "miracle" is impressive to see, and in the basement they have many exhibits explaining the story and testing of the blood and flesh....

To witness with our own eyes the Eucharist miracle from 12 centuries ago is indeed a miracle in itself for us and our faith. The medieval town of Lanciano is very charming.
