About
A new conception of zoo as "conservation centre" is very different from the old idea of "living museum" as a collecting place with the mere purpose to display exotic animals coming from the whole world without a global strategy. Bioparco di Sicilia is constantly growing in this sense. It complies with the laws which regulate the keeping of animals in modern zoological gardens. Conservation, through high standards of care of each species in the zoological garden, and by taking part in in situ and ex situ conservation programmes; research, through the cooperation with scientific organizations and universities. In order to strengthen its role in the conservation of biodiversity and to protect endangered species, Bioparco di Sicilia takes part in training programs with other zoological gardens.

At under 20 euros for two adults and a baby, this is well worth a visit. The dinosaurs were a particular highlight as they were very well made. The Tyrannosaurus Rex was particularly dramatic!
If you intend on paying by card, make sure that you bring cash as well as the restaurant/ bar doesn't accept cards. Also, take care on the exit from the main highway as the signage is poor and a little late!
A lovely place to have a picnic and a look at a few animals.

Great experience! The zoo is fantastic and a great example of sensible sustainable approach, with 80% of the food the animals eat being grown and produced at the farm. Guiseppe was very knowledgeable and helpful, which added to our fantastic experience x

Maybe it was too hot that day. The parc looks outdated. Maybe we are spoiled, but this was not up to our standard. The price was good.

This really is a terrible attraction. It costs €8.50 to get in. There are hardly any animals to look at and a lot of enclosures are shut/undergoing renovation. This should be made more clear before you buy tickets. There is no information provided in other languages about the animals so if you do not speak/understand Italian then this is not the place for you. It was extremely hot when we visited and there was no one selling refreshments. Our visit lasted no more than 20minutes as we were so bored! We’ve been to lots of zoos, animal encounters etc and this does not compare at all! Don’t waste your time and money!

As the mother of young children, I am no stranger to zoos. I often challenge my conscience whether the animals benefit from being exposed to our species and I've cringed while watching large mammals pacing their enclosures in a climate far removed from their natural environment. But no more will I peer through bars at birds who have no room to fly or mammals who have no room to roam. Not to mention reptiles who are accommodated in spaces as small as those of their stuffed museum brothers and sisters. So our visit to this appalling zoo has had one positive outcome.
