Beautiful, narrow gorge with forested slopes (especially in autumn), a mountain stream and some waterfalls. Nearby are the Ravenna railway viaduct and a mountain pass (with many hairpin bends). It all looks like a model train landscape!

It is a must to do hiking trail. Just beautiful and characteristic of the black forest. You meet several bridges, go along a river and enjoy a beautiful dense forest. Highly recommended. To get to the trail, you have to pass under the train bridge.

This is a pleasant walk, by a stream with cascades, bridges and cliff-walkways. It isn't long, perhaps only 15 minutes each way to the largest waterfall.
The cascades/waterfalls are not in themselves that impressive, but its more the overall impression of the walk.
Just before you go under the viaduct, there is a small hill you can go up with a nice view.

A very nice place to hike very close to Freiburg. We hiked up the gorge and came back via Hinterzarten, which is a very nice roundtrip.

Trail along the creek about 3-4 hours in total, with small waterfalls, wooden bridges, steep stairs. Not circular. At the end of the track there is a small coffee shop where you can buy an ice cream and prepare your way back. On the way we harvested forest mushrooms and some raspberry.

This was one the best trails we did in the Black Forest. It goes along the river with waterfalls and wooden bridges, the kids loved it!

Parkingplaces not ready and icy. Marketplace icy, people falling. Then they came with a wheeled loader, drove through the crowd to get the place de-iced. Very dangerous.
Guys you are charging for parking and entering the market. So get your job done!

Beware when heading to the Christmas Market. Last Sat. Dec 2, 2017 WE were not able to reserve a parking spot online. So the website tells us to drive to Hinterzarten and get a free shuttle bus the drives regularly. When we arrived, we got a parking spot in Hinterzarten in the upper part and the sign told us every 30 min. there would be a bus. WE waited from 16:50 till 17:50, at 17:30 we had seen a few buses none stopped nor did the public bus which would have happily have tave and paid, then we walked to the trainstation and no bus came till right when we were leaving! Freezing cold, we left as we were a group of 14, and had no chance to get on any bus. There were 100's of people,

Probably, one of the most beautiful easy one day hikes we did in Schwarzwald. The hiking path through the gorge is a bit crowded, but the views are fantasting along the whole way. Especially pleasant on a hot summer day, as it is raher humid here. At the end of the gorge there is an impressive train bridge - one of the highest along the Schwarzwaldbahn.
