This was a short visit on a busy sightseeing day. The loch is a peaceful and tranquil place and can be driven around on a circular route taking 75 minutes. We saw people fishing, if thats your fancy. Worth a look for the views alone.

Finding ourselves with two hours to kill before our booking for supper in Mallaig, we decided to have a look at Loch Morar - the deepest loch in Scotland. There is only one single track public road giving access to the loch which is on the North side and extends to just under a quarter of the length of the loch. Beyond this is a vehicular track not open to the public for vehicles, but available for bikes and walkers, and this leads to Swordland, approximately half way along the North side, from which a short trek North takes you to Tarbet on Loch Nevis and a ferry back to Mallaig, which is awesome in itself. At the Easterly end of the public tarmac road there is a very small car park giving access to the track. Our trip however was limited for time, and we were in a car, but we thoroughly enjoyed it - breathtaking views despite it being a murky day, and places to stop lochside to walk along beaches. Definitely recommended, and I'd imagine the walk or bike ride to Tarbet for the ferry back (check times!) would be awesome.

Loch Morar is the deepest loch in Scotland & rumour has it Morag the loch monster lives there. She is the sister of the Loch Ness monster. The loch has some lovely walks around its perimeter and above in the mountains. I have fished the loch on many occasions both off the shore and from my boat. You do need to get a permit before fishing. A really nice place.

Loch Morar is the deepest lake in the UK and one of the most stunningly beautiful locations in the Highlands and Islands. Yet a drive along the north shore from Morar village to Brinacory on the narrow single track lane revealed a catalogue of appalling neglect and unbelievable agricultural litter with abandoned vehicles, building waste, derelict caravans and trash at several locations along this 5 mile road. Interspersed with this horror were several beautifully sited and maintained private homes and one can only wonder how these people can allow such desecration around them in this gorgeous place? Surely the local Highland authority must be a toothless tiger to tolerate such massive visual and actual abuse to prevail. I'm English but I'm ashamed that such moronic vandalism can occur. Are these people totally without a vestige of pride in their home, or just so bone idle to work efficiently and clear up after themselves?

Loch morar is quite simply my little piece of heaven, if conditions are decent you might see otters at the river, salmon making their way up stream. Sea eagles are currently nesting on Eilan Bhan and can be seen soaring above the islands.

We walked from Morar station along the loch to Tarbet, where we caught the pre booked ferry back to Mallaig. The first three miles are along the road and then after that a clear path. It was so beautiful and pieceful. Sometimes the route is right next to the loch on a rocky path. One of the best walks I have ever done.

I arrived yesterday in Scotland. I missed the Ferry to Isle of Skye. Went to Morar Beach. Kept crying and crying. It's so beautiful, clean and unrept nature. It stretches on and on. I meditated there for 35 minutes on the beach with my eyes open, crying and in total silence. Nice sunny breeze and littlre bit of wind. Morar Lake/Beach is for me the most beautiful I have been in the world. Loch Morar is great as well

We stayed within a two minute walk of Loch Morar. It is stunningly beautiful. It is the deepest body of water in Britain but, surprisingly, hadn't attracted many tourists whilst we were there in August.
