We visited this wonderful winery and cellar door as industry professionals (Australia & USA) to explore their products. We had a wonderful wine tasting with a generous sampling of the current wines. What was most enjoyable was the willingness to talk about the history of the property and to explain the journey they have taken to produce these world-class wines.

We did not allow time to sit in the panorama restaurant and enjoy food and wines. Perhaps on our next visit we will plan to utilise this facility more wisely.

We made a very special trip to Italy this September. Our first goal was to travel to Ripatransone to see the area from which my wife's grandparents came to America in 1912. As with many immigrants to the US in that period, they talked very little about their heritage and steered their children away from the language in order for them and their children to assimilate as rapidly as possible. We went, not to find her distant relatives but to feel the land, the culture, eat the food and drink the wine. Looking for different things to do we noticed Tenuta Cocci Grifoni in TripAdvisor. Perfect! My fife's grandmother's maiden name was Cocci which we learned was quite common in the region but it still made it important to visit this winery.

Driving in this region is quite interesting due to the steep terrain and narrow winding roads but with the address in my Garmin, I was able to find the winery. We stopped and went in unannounced. We were informed that reservations are recommended and they were having a very busy day and several alternate days were suggested. We were running out of out time for La Marche and scheduled for Bologna in a couple of days so they said if we could come back at 2:00 that afternoon, we could have a tasting. We were very pleased and since it was a beautiful day, went back to Ripatransone to explore more of its streets and alleys.

As you can see, all of the events leading up to the tasting were very positive. We felt that we were welcome. It was a perfect day. The views and atmosphere was amazing. I have been to wine tastings where a small lunch was included, where the wines were served along with a multi-course dinner and where you didn't even get a cracker so as long as the wine is good I'm ok. We were surprised at the variety and quantity of tasty snacks that just kept coming while we were tasting the wines. They were homemade and delicious.

The wine. What about the wine? Until just before our trip I had never heard of Pecorino (cheese-yes, grape-no) but I had just tried some from a wine club I belong to and liked it. The Colle Vecchio and the Guido Cocci Grifoni were excellent. We also had the reds, Il Grifone and Vigna Messieri as well as the Spumante Passerina Gaudio Magno. Between the wines, the food, the hospitality, the history lesson on the vineyard and the fantastic view, it was a perfect day.

We were in the area for a friends wedding and I decided to arrange a lunch and winetasting and chose this Winery. It started out with 8 of us planning to go which I had told our gracious host Marilena, but others wanted to join us, so we ended up having 13 people at the last minute. Marilena was SO good about this, I felt bad because it felt like I had messed her around, but she was the best! And our experience was just fabulous - a memory I will cherish. We had the most amazing multi course lunch during which Marilena served us with a number of wines to taste, all which I really enjoyed. All this while we sat at a table on the deck overlooking the most wonderful expansive view!! After lunch we went over to the shop where many of us purchased some wine to take home. All the staff were great, and I would highly recommend a visit to this wonderful Winery. As a bonus, I noticed my name on some of the bottles of wine and was amused to learn that there is a small wine region in the area called Tara. Don't miss this place if you are in the area!

My husband and I made the easy drive from Ascoli Piceno to Tenuta Cocci Griffoni to taste the best of the Rosso Piceno Superiore wines. It is set in the beautiful rolling hills through which ‘la strada di Rosso Piceno Superiore’ runs - the wine road which meanders from Offida in the hills to San Benedetto del Tronto on the coast. We were warmly welcomed by polite and engaging staff, who were multilingual and charming. Then Elisa arrived to be our host. She was elegant and affable, explaining the impressive history of the cantina and the family behind its success. She explained the various land holdings around the zone and what grape types and other products were grown on each plot. The cantina offers a full range of white and red wines, from fresh, ready to drink wines produced in steel barrels to more structured wines aged in wood. The Pecorino whites are beautiful but we were both taken with the Sangiovese/Montepulciano blends as well as the 100% Montepulciano wines, which we purchased to enjoy during our holiday in Italy. The staff were caring and professional. We left feeling educated and delighted with our experience at this special place.

My daughter(age 22) and I had a fabulous afternoon of wine tasting and lunch in the most beautiful setting in Le Marche. We loved all the wines — the pecorino and montepulciano wines were amazing:Colle Vecchio and Il Grifone; the food was fresh, local, and delicious: olives, zucchini, cheese, meats, specialty breads, pasta and desserts. We loved meeting Marilena— the trendy, stylish, forward-thinking director. We would return in a heartbeat!

Tenuta Cocci Grifoni is at once one of the best and most important wine producers in Le Marche as well as one of the most welcoming. I came here with a group on a gastronomic cultural tour and Marilena C-G gave us a fabulous visit including a guided degustazione of wonderful wines over a home-prepared meal in tasting room overlooking the beautiful countryside. The wines are special and significant to the story of viticulture in Le Marche, especially Colle Vecchio, the first and still perhaps the best wine commercially produced from the characterful Pecorino grape. Reds from mighty Montepulciano are excellent too. This is a must visit to gain an understanding and appreciation of wine, food and life in this beautiful region.

We went here for a wine tasting with some local snacks on a Saturday night. Had a great time, the hosts are really friendly and tell you all about the vinyard, the family, the food and ofcourse the wine. The wine itself was fantastic (try the wine containing Pecorino grapes!), as was the short walk through the vinyard.
The wonderfull food was a full on diner, served out on the terras with an amazing view. Would highly recommend visiting this place.
We will make some friends very happy with the wine we took with us. Or maybe we'll just drink it all ourselves ;)
