Wonderful Norman carvings
bře 2020
The church was still open at 5pm and we looked at the amazing Norman carvings and gargoyles. It is on a summit looking over the valley and there is also a Motte and Bailey, which was a bit muddy.

Wandering about
úno 2020 • Jednotlivci
Staying at the kilpeck inn, the owner mentioned that the church was worth a look. Decided to have a wander round & really enjoyed it. Liked the history bit in the graveyard which gave information about the church & village. Can also get to the castle through the back of the graveyard. Had a bit of a walk round but due to being very slippery decided not to climb up to the castle itself

A lovely little Church
říj 2019
If you are in the area or just driving near by then it is worth the stop. As well as the lovely little church there is a coupleof walls still standing over the back from a destroyed castle.

This Norman church is a true treasure. My wife thought it was the best church we’ve visited. Very Romanesque, it’s far enough off the beaten track that you can visit in relative solitude. There was only one other couple there at the time of our visit which allowed me to soak of the peace and quiet while thinking of almost a 1000 years of worshipers who have attended services here. Highly recommended!

Charming Norman church
čvc 2019
After checking into the Kilpeck Inn for the night we took a stroll up to this lovely old Norman church. It is in a peaceful rural setting, near some castle ruins, with sheep grazing in the field behind. I recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Yet another lovely & different church - some interesting history, wouldn't guess how busy & important the area was.
Include a visit to the castle (very little left - but good views from the top) and other local sites to make a morning/afternoon or day of it.

Exquisite Romanesque Norman church with Crusader links
čvn 2019 • Pár
Hard by the mote and bailey castle, and sheltered in an adjacent hollow, the stunningly beautiful church of St Mary and St David, with its rounded apse and domed ceilings, was built in the early part of the 12th century, in the style known as Romanesque. A written guide clearly explains the many unusual features within the church interior, and the external South door has several carvings around its entrance which symbolise the trials and tribulations of the outside world as you pass into this holy place. Even on the very wet day we visited recently, June 16th, there is something of interest for even the most sceptical visitor, and its possible links to the Knights Hospitallers add an intriguing rich vein.
