We very much enjoyed the collections (especially the costumes and some precious fabrics), the warm welcome and explanations of Rob and the team and a delicious home made lunch at the coffee room! The short riverside walk is peaceful. Lovely moment!
So glad you enjoyed your visit! Thanks for such a lovely review!

    A Hidden delight
We had an amazing visit this morning. The owner shared so much information about the mill. The Edwardian costume exhibition was fascinating - as were the display of tools and farming implements from bygone days. The little black dress exhibition certainly gave an insight into the changing face of fashion covering just that one item. To top our visit off, the coffee and cake afterwards were delicious and served by very attentive staff. We will certainly make a return visit.
So glad you enjoyed your visit! Thank you for your wonderful review!

    An interesting afternoon!
We started our visit here by having lunch in the tearoom. I had home-baked quiche and salad which was delicious. We then had a look round the museum which contained some very interesting exhibits. I particularly enjoyed the Edwardian costume exhibition and enjoyed reading the cards explaining how the owner obtained the dresses. (My favourite story was the one where one of the ladies who agreed to sell a dress to the owner is still claiming her weekly piece of chocolate cake in the tearoom which was part of the agreement!) I also enjoyed the LBD exhibition and particularly admired the beaded dress! The dolls' house as you enter the museum was also fascinating. My husband enjoyed looking at the farming implements and we both enjoyed the room settings and seeing how the mill was renovated by the present owners. If you are in the area, make sure you pay a visit.
Thank you for your lovely review: we always appreciate visitors taking time to leave a review!

Fantastic place with an interesting history
We are new to Ayrshire and are exploring the area in our retirement. What a wonderful find this is! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch in the cafe; delicious food and attentive, friendly service. Great value too! We were greeted by the mill owner, Robert who welcomed us to the museum. He outlined the interesting story of how he inherited the mill in a near derelict state and then spent many years renovating the buildings inside and out. Finally curating and displaying the fascinating items in the museum we enjoy today. This personal introduction provided an insightful perspective, which greatly enhanced our visit. We spent a couple of hours meandering through the different areas and particularly enjoyed the beautiful dolls house, little black dress costume exhibits and room displays. You can tell this has been a labour of love for the owner and all their hard work has resulted in a unique and lasting legacy for the area and the generations to come. We completed our visit with a short loop of the riverside walk. We had the place to ourselves! Highly recommended!

This place is a gem not to be missed.
I am a frequent visitor and always go home feeling renewed.
The passion and commitment given to Dalgarven is inspiring alone.
And you have a choice of loads of yummy things to eat... Bliss!
But if fashion is a passion get your self down here.
You will be in awe of the costumes displayed, recently it was Kimonos, the history the most beautiful art work
The is so much to see and dont miss out

A unique museum that gives visitors a chance to see a restored mill and exhibits of everything from tools to kitchen gadgets. We had a chance to speak to the owner; you could tell that the restoration had been a labor of love. We also had lunch there, in the cafe called The Miller's Kitchen. Great soup and sandwiches.

My sister and I were looking for something to do yesterday and my sister stumbled on Dalgarven Mill on here and we are delighted she did. The place might be relatively small but it is incredible. Each floor is jam packed with so many old items and gives a very good insight into the Miller's daily life when Dalgarven was a working mill. We stopped for tea and cake in the wee tea room before we left and were lucky enough to meet Robert who was able to give us more insight into his families history of the mill and how he had worked so hard to restore it. Highly recommend a visit to this hidden gem. Thank you so much

What an amazing place. This was a gem of a find. We stopped for a visit with my family and the dog. Beautiful location very friendly. We met the owner who gave us his history and a personal tour it was fantastic and so interesting. We chatted and had a great discussion about the costumes and how the museum started and things in common.
Lovely cafe with space indoors or out and water bowls for the dog. It is over three floors but my brother who has mobility issues managed with time.

A lovely little community museum. You can see the love that has gone in to creating the collection. I particularly enjoyed the personal stories behind so many of the items which had been donated. A whistle stop trip will give you a history of the Mill and the local area or you can spend hours examining all the nooks and crannies.
The cafe was a particular treat. Sandwiches were nice but cakes were excellent. Staff were friendly and well informed.

Researched places to visit and found this hidden gem. A must see with a great collection, enthusiastic owner and lovely ladies in the tea room. Great lunch at a good price.
Take time to speak to Robert who built the collection and rebuilt the mill.
Definitely will be revisiting in the future.
Good rainy day site and had a quiz for the children.
