I love bridges - the symbolism of it - linking communities, linking places ... Ponte Vecchio in Dolceacqua must be one of the most beautiful old stone bridges I have seen. Hang around until it gets dark to get dark to get some really nice photos.

Situated smack bang in the centre of the village the bridge is quite spectacular to look at as is the surrounding architecture.

We drove to this darling town for the day from Menton, France. We had a great time wandering around the town and touring the castle.

A charming and surprising city. We went for a walk under/inside thee old city and up to the castle. At the top we took a museum tour and had a look at the view.

I can’t describe Dolceacqua in any other way that a maze of medieval uphill alleys unchanged for st least 400 years and this strong and picturesque bridge is the entrance to the old city by crossing the river. Really amazing to see how little the village has changed in the last centuries

Together with the ruins of the Castello Dei Doria the Ponte Vecchio bridge is the landmarks of this old and cosy village in the mountains 30 min. from the coast by car.
The bridge is from the 15th century.
Beautiful to stand there and watch the flow in the river, the ruins and the old town.

Coming down from Apricale we wandered around on a very quiet January Monday with most of the town shut down. We wandered up and down the amazing, winding streets. Probably the best Medieval type feel to a village we've come across. You could spend half a day doing the village, castle, church.

The Ponte Vecchio and the area around are picture postcard in cuteness. My choice of activities in Ventimiglio.

This is the last, strong hold bridge of this 15th century medieval town of Dolceacqua Italy.
River Nervia divides the town in two. Terra is the old side, outgrown by the mid 14th century. Borgo is the "new" side.
In 1884 Claude Monet painted The Castle of Dolceacqua. An oil painting of Ponte Vecchio and the Castello dei Doria
Jewel of lightness.
If you have a fascination of medieval history and Monet eye ... you must stop here. Be sure to cross over the bridge for ideal photo opportunities or get mid-stream as Claude did.

It is a real treat to see the actual setting from a Monet painting. There is a Monet exhibition in town, but it opened the day after we visited. I'm sure it's wonderful.

What is the parking like near the bridge? I see parking in some of the pictures, but is is hard to get to? Is it paid parking or first come first served?

Parcheggio facile da raggiungere occorre attraversare il ponte poi girare a destra seguire le indicazioni avanti 200 metri. Si il parcheggio è a pagamento.
