A very handy hours drive from Milan centre, perfect for the beginner or toboganing youngsters. However, there are only 2 cafes and one of them is pretty awful. Also the ski school managed to cancel our booking without bothering to tell us. To avoid our daughter disappointment we booked the only available lesson - 4 hours later, private and with no discount

I have been a beginner for the last 10 years or so, managing 1 or 2 days skiing most years - obviously I will always be a beginner!

I wanted a short ski trip that would not cost a fortune. This hit the mark. I did not do all the ski runs - many looked too challenging for me but I had great fun on the easier slopes

I flew (22 euros) into and stayed (70 euros) in a B&B at Bergamo as local accommodation was so expensive. This drive in a hire car (ÂŁ12) was a pain. It's only 60km but there is so much traffic it takes around 90 minutes. I would look to stay nearer if I went again. You may need snow chains at some times - but at the end of January I did not.

After parking in a well signed car park in Barzio you take a circa 10 minute ride by cable car up to the mountain. Equipment rental is available at the top or in the car park. I couldn't find prices on line but found that it was much cheaper at the top. I paid 17 euros for the first day for skis, boots and poles but it was 12 euros at the top - without the minor hassle of carrying skis in the cable car

This was a fun trip - easy to organise and I may do it again

Only 1 hrs and 20 mins to drive from central milan. Do arrive early (before 9am) to ensure parking space if driving. If not will have to park your car at the nearby village Barzio and take a free bus. Unless you are lucky to find a spot to park along the way leading to the Bobbio Ski resort.

There are rental shops at the top after the cable car rides to the ski area. Everything from clothing to equipment except Goggles/shades and Ski gloves.

Tuitions/private (1-1 for 1hr is $35 euro) lesson can be found at the school located at the top.

We came here for a few hours of sledging and it was absolutely wonderful. The views are breathtaking (especially when the sun was setting) and the snow was totally lovely. The smell of fresh barbequed food coming from the restaurant was also a pleasant sensation. Overall it was an extremely fun experience. Be sure to plan when to wait in line for the cable-car back down = as the queue was very long and we spent an hour waiting plus it got really cold as soon as the sun set. I would highly recommend.

My friend and I just returned from 3 days skiing here. We flew to Milan Malpensa, hired a car and it's just an hour and half drive. The resort itself is accessed via a cable car from the village of Barzio. We stayed in Barzio and either drove the couple of minutes to the cable car or got the ski bus.
We were there at Carnivale weekend so it was incredibly busy. The lifts open at 0800 and on the Sunday we were turned back at 0805 as the car park was full! Very well organised though - directed to park in the village of Barzio and got a ski bus in a matter of minutes. We walked back (having dropped our skis off at the hire place) and it only took 20 minutes.
There are plenty of places to hire skis at the top of the cable car averaging about 10e a day for beginner skis and boots. There's also a ski school - English is only spoken in private lessons.
The runs are brilliants for beginners - a chair lift takes you to the start of a couple of nice blues. The red runs are very nice too. I love skiing although I am terrible at it and this resort was very flattering.
Plenty to keep us occupied for two and half days on the mountain but any longer and you would get bored.
There's also a great toboggan run for the kids with a magic carpet so you don't even have to walk back up the hill with your sledge.
I'm definitely returning next year but will stay in Piani itself not Barzio - there's a couple of refugios up there and you park your car at 3e per day at the bottom of the cable car and they'll pick you up with a skidoo at the top! Then you don't have to worry about the car park closing at 0800.
Beautiful mountain scenery, lovely friendly people, great food. Perfect!

this is great for people who want to learn how to ski, lots of slopes for beginners, plenty of ski schools and rentals available on the mountain.
Prices are very good and its easily accessible.
You can easily drive up to the P1 parking and park for the full day for only 3 euro.
had a great time with the kids but for advanced skiers the 1 black slope is not enough to keep you busy all day.

took my 9 year old son here for his first experience of skiing and there was simply no lift we could use so we spent the day walking up and skiing down the slight slope leading to the lift to blue runs. Paid 49 euros for what proved simply to be the cable ride there as he couldn't use any of the lifts. Badly sign posted, reasonably efficient ski hire operation.

The ride up in the gondola lift is good and there are several places to get food and refreshment at the top station. From there, an assortment of walks can be had - the way back to the top station is inadequately marked so make a note when you arrive! A great place for some good treks
