My wine group, 6 women friends, booked a six day tour with Tasting Tours. The owner, Silvia Aprato, was our tour guide for most of the experience. She worked with us to customize our tour, which in addition to wine and food, we also took in the history and culture of the region by visiting museums, churches, a hunting lodge of the Savoy family, truffle hunt, and more. Our cooking class was one the best I've experienced. We can't say enough about how great our trip was. Silvia is sommelier certified, and is very well respected by the wine makers/vineyard owners, and others we met along the tour. This made our experience all the better given the relationships she clearly has developed with these people. I can't recommend Tastind Tours enough. She put together the perfect trip for my group.

We had the pleasure of being guided by Sylvia for three days during our stay in Piedmont. Together with Fabio, our excellent driver (who always found shade and provided cold water!), Sylvia shared a variety of local experiences with us. She guided us on several Barolo and Barbaresco wine tours, and demonstrated her proficient knowledge of the wines, the region, and the various wineries, which were well selected to introduce us to a nice range of wines, as well as different production techniques. In addition to the wine tastings, Sylvia arranged for us to meet with truffle hunters, and to then go out with one and his dog on a successful hunt for truffles (--the dog found both black and white truffles), after which we enjoyed a generous tasting of the truffles. On another occasion, Sylvia arranged for us to visit the farm of a producer of sheep's milk cheeses, where we met the cheesemaker as well as his animals, and then had an extensive cheese tasting. Sylvia's restaurant recommendations were perfect, and resulted in lovely dining at places we would not have discovered on our own. She was able to direct me to the best source for truffle products in Alba. Piedmont has so much to offer and Sylvia is knowledgeable about all of it, as well as the most efficient ways to get to know it best. We have done winery tours in various regions in France, Tuscany, Chile, Argentina, as well as in Napa and Paso Robles, in our home state. I can say without question that Sylvia was the most knowledgeable and endearing wine guide we have had in any of those places. I highly recommend Sylvia as a guide (not just for wine, but for Piedmont in general) and as a trip planner for the region, and Fabio for his personable and professional driving services.

Sylvia did an amazing amazing job organizing and leading our full day wine tour in the Barolo region. She hand picked some great wine makers to let us experience a wide range of Barolo wines. She was a passionate teacher and proud resident of this beautiful part of Italy. The restaurant that she picked for lunch was a great choice and was popular with the locals.
I highly recommend Tasting Tours, Sylvia and also Fabio who did an awesome job of driving us. I can't wait to come back and tour again!

My girlfriend and I did tours their tours with some friends. We could not have been happier. They helped us get into several top notch wineries that we requested and helped to fill our schedule with other great wineries where they knew the vintners. They also took us to several lunch spots we adored. We did three days with them, two with a guide and one without. We preferred the experience with the guide as they helped us to recall things we had forgotten and helped us to better appreciate Piedmonte culture. We'd look to tour with them again if we were back in the area.

We just completed a full day tour with Sylvia that was just perfect! She catered the tour to the specific types of wineries that we wished to visit. Sylvia is very knowledgeable about the wines and the region, and made the tour a fantastic experience. We appreciated being able to tour the cellars and learn about the particular wines and regional differences, all in a relaxed way. Visits to the villages of Barbaresco and Barolo were also highlights. Highly recommend this company if you want a private tour of wineries!

Silvia was an excellent tour guide when my husband and I went wine tasting in the Barolo and Barbaresco regions. She was very knowledgeable about the area and the wineries we visited. He English was fantastic and she was very helpful with coordinating drivers for other parts of our trip to Piedmont and Como. I would highly recommend using her to help make your Piedmont visit memorable.

My husband and I enjoyed two amazing days wine tasting with Silvia in the Piemonte region! She perfectly planned our first day exploring and learning so much about the Barolo region and the second day focusing on Barbaresco and Barbera d'Asti.Silvia was so very knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend our time with for this special holiday! Her recommendations and assistance in planning more wine tastings on our own for two more days were also much appreciated. We would highly recommend her services for an outstanding wine tour of beautiful Piemonte, Italy!

My wife and I had a great time with Silvia during our vacation in Piedmont in June of 2012. She was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable about wine, food and the history of the area.

We stayed at the Villa Tiboldi in Canale. We had a beautiful room overlooking the vineyards of the Malvira winery. The breakfast buffet was delicious as was the food in the restaurant.

As part of the 3-day tour, we did a chocolate tasting at Ravera Cioccolato in Cherasco, a wonderful cheese tasting at Giolito in Bra, some shopping in Alba and wine tastings at the Malvira, Marchesi di Gresy and Cavallotto wineries. The wine tastings were great. They were so much more personal than “stepping up to the bar” in any of the Napa Valley wineries. And the wines were fantastic! We also visited the La Banca del Vino in Pollenzo and the Castello di Grinzane Cavour. We had a nice lunch with Silvia in Barolo and strolled through the small town of Barbaresco and visited the local enoteca.

We also enjoyed a cooking class with Chef Roberto at the Villa Tiboldi. We were with him about 2 hours. During that time he showed us how to make focaccia dough, Tajarin, and a simple, but delicious, tomato sauce. In fact, after eating the food we prepared (and having had a big lunch in Barolo) we never went to dinner that evening. There was no room for more food!

Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

We took Silvia’s two day “Grand Crus of Barolo” tour and were not disappointed. We know a bit about wine and studied up on the wines of the region before the tour, so we wanted to make the most of our time in the area. Silvia was the perfect choice. She is so knowlegable about the wine, food, and history of the area, and she is very personable. No matter your level of wine knowledge or interest, Silvia will make the trip memorable. We tried a wide variety of Barolos from different parts of the region and even stopped at a couple of castles for a short photo break. By day two, we felt we were touring with a friend. We highly recommend Silvia if you are spending time in Barolo. We cannot forget to mention how great Fabbio, our driver, was! Thank you so much Silvia.

We thoroughly enjoyed a private full day tour of Barbera and Barbaresco wineries. We are wine "hobbyists", some limited knowledge but certainly no experts. We visited two very different wineries in the morning, and another in the afternoon. Our tour included the guide, Silvia, and a car and driver.

Silvia really made the tour so pleasant and informative. She gave information not only about the wines, but also local history and winery family stories that added greatly to our enjoyable day!

In each winery we were given a tour of their wine making processes by winery staff (all very knowledgeable and welcoming), followed by tastings of 7 to 10 varieties at each location.

We have taken guided wine tours in several regions of France with some excellent guides - we think our day with Silvia and Wine Tours in the piedmont was the best one yet!! Thank you Silvia!
