I mean a Grateful Russia - to Her Defenders obelisk not far from the monastery.
So, gonna drop a couple of words where it is more appropriate.

This monastery is situated on the place on the left flank of the Russian army where its general Alexander Tuchkov IV was killed on September 7th, 1812. It was his widow who built it.
Me and my grandchildren visited it on a frying July weekday after exploring other monuments on the Borodinskoye field. I knew there was a pond there as well as some shade so we drove there. We were met by a sign on the wall saying that the complex was closed due to quarantine (covid!) but - very Russian way! - the gates were open so we stepped in.
It was hot as everywhere there but at least some lawn sprinklers were working so we had a chance to cool our hands and faces. No-one was inside except for guards but they were so exhausted by heat that hardly looked at us. So, we sat in the shade, had a snack from our boxes, drank some water and left. There was nothing more to do there since all the churches were closed.
Judge for yourself.
