More variety needed

This is a nice enough little place (and I would actually give it 3 and a half stars rather than 3 - it's worth more than 3, but isn't worth 4), although it was very, very cold when we arrived. It definitely needs some heating in winter! The food we had was very nice - I had parsnip and apple soup, which was very tasty although I couldn't really taste the apple. The taste of the parsnip was very nice, but it needed more apple. Still very tasty though, and I had a generous portion as well as a generous serving of bread. It was reasonably priced too. It would be nice if there was a larger selection of hot food on the menu though. Maybe a choice of 3 more hot meals? The farm shop wasn't much, although there was a generous selection of lovely wines and ciders. I feel it needs more though. In my opinion, as it's a farm shop, there needs to be less gifts and more farm produce - breads, meats, chutneys, jams, fruit and veg. I know it's only a small shop, but I didn't really feel it was a proper farm shop - not compared to other farm shops I've been to. Even ones that size I've been to have a good selection of farm produce. Lose the gifts and stick to farm produce is my opinion. Welcome could have been friendlier too. I felt there was an almost sarcastic tone to the woman's voice. I didn't feel particularly comfortable. Still, I enjoyed my meal and would probably visit again if I'm ever that way, I just hope that next time I do visit there's a bit more choice on the menu. More meals instead of snacks.

This delightful little farm shop is nicely positioned about half way between Malvern and Hereford on the Hereford to Worcester road. It's not very big, but has a small cafe area that does wonderful bacon butties and delicious hot chocolate. In fact the cafe provides a variety of meals and drinks and on one occasion I had a very nice soup there. Within the shop area you can purchase some very nice jams and chutneys as well as cider, wines and beers along with meat and other items from the deli side. It is open on a Sunday and well worth a visit if passing.

We popped in during a visit to Ledbury thinking we'd have a quick look around but actually ended up staying quite a while. We started off with a huge ploughman's lunch in the café, which came with lovely home-made bread and chutneys. This was followed by a cider and fruit wine tasting session, the highlight for me being the bramley apple cider, which is described as "apple pie in a glass". We then ended up buying quite a few things from the shop, including a signed copy of a book written by an author from the local area. The lady in the shop was very welcoming and she gave us a lot of interesting information about the farm and how the cider is produced. I highly recommend this shop if you're in the area.

This is a delightful, little farm shop with a quaint cafe. The shop sells some lovely and unusual food and products and the cafe has an inside seating area and an outside terrace. The menu is rather limited, but the refreshments on offer were very special. The tea and coffee are served at the perfect temperature and the scones are served warm with butter, jam and cream. It was like heaven in an afternoon tea. The staff are very welcoming and know how to treat people politely and with excellent customer service. It's a blissful way to spend an hour.

We stumbled upon this farm shop and cafe on a long journey to Herefordshire on one of the coldest snowy days. Not far from our destination, a wedding not too far off, we really needed a cup of tea to warm us up before arriving at our destination. The farm shop and cafe is well signposted and there is adequate parking in the yard. We were given a warm welcome by the owners who sacrificed finishing their lunch to make us a big pot of good quality tea. We had a good chat with the owners about the weather, farming today in the adverse weather and about their cider making. We tasted some samples of their produce which were absolutely delicious. Our only disappointment was not being able to stay longer and browse the local produce and their own ciders. Would certainly recommend a visit to the venue to taste some good teas and produce and if we are ever in the area again we will certainly call in for longer!

This is such a nice stop. Big selection of varietal apple ciders, all grown and made on the farm. I've never come across still cider before.
Many other nice things as well, to tempt the palate.
We each had sandwiches and hot chocolate. All hand-made to order and beautifully presented.
It's a little tricky to find the gate - look out for the yellow and black CJ signs as you approach - it is in a dip in the road.

Farm shops are sometimes big and impersonal places with limited supplies of local produce. CJs is definitely NOT one of those. We called in on our way to a wedding to buy some Ruby's fudge on the recommendation of our daughter. The fudge is superb! We called in again on our way back from the wedding and this time spent longer looking around. Lots of home made (genuinely so!) jams, marmalades and chutneys, the best Victoria plums we have tasted in years, delicious locally made (a mile away apparently) scotch eggs, and wonderful breads - again local. We also bought apples which were not only really tasty but also delightfully irregular in size! There was also local award winning cider and other alcohol related goods (alcohol is not my thing so I can't really pass comment on this side of things).CJs is highly recommended - oh and there is also a tea room though I didn't have the chance to try it out.

Called in here on a trip back from Hereford when we were in need of a cup of tea. What a discovery. We had a cream tea. Everything bar the butter was homemade and was excellent. They also sell a range of home award winning ciders and other local produce so if your on the A4103, call in, it's well worth it !!

Being local I have passed Old Grove Farm Shop near Ledbury in Herefordshire many times through the years. Finally I called in on 29/3/14 we had some wonderful soup and homemade bread.

Later on we tasted a good selection of wines and wonderful local Herefordshire cider. I would certainly recommend a visit to the Old Grove Farm Shop. Well sign posted too with plenty of car parking space.

We have visited CJ's before and it was well worth a second visit. Once again the food was delicious and generous portions. When we commented on the size of the portions CJ told us that she has two sons who are both farmers and is used to giving them farmer's size meals, so visitors get the same. She is absolutely lovely, so warm and friendly and we shall certainly be going back again.
