- Peter JDalbeattie, United Kingdom1 contributionHad a fantastic time at the Foxfield Railway's locomotive driving experience dayTook part in a driver experience day on the Foxfield Railway on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 bought as a birthday present by my wife. What a fantastic day it was. Loved every single minute of it. The volunteers who made the day possible are a credit to the Foxfield Railway. Friendly and welcoming, they did everything they could to make us feel part of this wonderful preservation line and succeeded. Although we live in Scotland, the Foxfield will now forever have a special place in my heart and some great memories driving (with a little help!) a steam locomotive along the line. Fabulous experience. Amazing day I will treasure forever. Thanks to everyone for looking after us so well on the day.Visited June 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten June 8, 2023
- Steve G2 contributionsA Hidden GemWhat a great experience, from the initial greeting at the ticket office to the interaction with friendly and helpful staff and volunteers, the railway is a delight, the steam train was beautifully presented the carriages were some of the cleanest and best we have ridden in. There is a small but well presented and informative museum and the cafe makes a smashing pot of tea. All in all a worthwhile visit. Thank you Foxfield railway, we will be back.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 30, 2023
- Inspire6223292 contributionsNorth Pole Express Experience :)We attended the North Pole express yesterday, grandparents, myself and two children aged 10 and 5 and we all absolutely loved it! The staff were amazing and we unfortunately had a family emergency come up which means we had to make some changes to our booking, Harry who helped us with this was so lovely and professional and I can’t thank him enough for helping us out! Definitely made the children very excited for xmas, really enjoyed it! Can’t wait to book for next year :)Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 9, 2023
- Dhirabhakta DBridgend, United Kingdom161 contributionsLovely trip that the little one enjoyedHad a lovely trip on the Santa Express Train, the gift from Santa was lovely and the staff made a lovely effort. Would have been if for two things, there was no station stop, we slowly ambled up the track and ambled back, and the expensive cafe. But the main thing was the little one had a great timeVisited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 10, 2023

We were very disappointed with this experience considering the cost.
We booked a first class cabin due to covid. We found it to be extremely cold in there. Decorations were minimal.
We made the booking confirming there were members of the party who had dairy/egg intolerance. I followed it up with an email that was never answered. I made a follow up phone call where a very polite lady said she had had no dealings with the Santa organisation this year but would get someone to call me when they were home from work. This also never happened.
On boarding the train there were mince pies/ cookies for everyone the people with dietary requirements not catered for so after finding an elf I explained the issue and cakes were sent to the cabin also unsuitable as egg was one of the ingredients . The adult drink of port was also surprising given the location of the experience drivers were clearly needed to get there so we had to take those with us.
Then came the entertainment Santa came to the cabin twice and was there no longer than 5 minutes for both visits. Jack Frost only just made it before we arrived back at the station to depart. The elves were unfriendly and not festive.
After emailing fox field about our experience this was ignored yet again.
Considering the competition for festive activities this failed completely. It was expensive and a very disappointing family festive experience and we would not attend or recommend

We met friends from Cheshire here. We live less than a mile away and never been (terrible, know!). It was absolutely brilliant, the x2 4 year old loved every minute and so did all the parents. It's a brilliantly run place and all the people are so friendly. I think it's also very reasonably priced!

What a great few hours ! Very Christmassy and a joy for our children, lots of Christmas cheer and laughter. All the staff including Santa and his helpers were great fun and made everyone feel very welcome. Spaces set out on the train for each family were perfect and didn’t feel at all cramped. Very inviting cookie and drink for the kids with a mince pie and port for the parents which were absolutely delicious!. Another great experience here, we shall be returning - Well Done All !

Train journey relaxing and it was fine.x
Very good value for money
Cafe was lovely, couldn't fault it.x
The mini railway didn't go all the way round for a reason I'm not sure of but it was still fine.

Cancelled booking, cramped seating, hot carragies shortened journey time - not even a full hour, hot cream and melted butter, no clear instructions to what was bought with our tickets an expensive day out
Scenery was good though

its only a short distance and the round trip is around 40 minutes. Not mega exciting but good value for money.
