“Tom of Clans & Castles was my guide for a wonderful week experiencing Scotland’s history and specifically that of the Lords of the Isles for my Clan Donald Saga. Each day, he had me climbing over castle ruins and visiting historical sites. He even read passages to me from the many books he brought along on the trip. When friends ask me to name the highlight of my three weeks in the Western Highlands, I always say, my week with Tom of Clans & Castles.”

We have just returned from a wonderful trip from Scotland organised by Diana. I was planning the trip for my husband’s 50th birthday and wanted it to be very special. The trip exceeded our expectations! From the moment we were met by our guide Andrew in Scotland (he prepared coffee for us in case we did not have a chance to have breakfast on the train, this touched us so much!) to the moment we returned to London. Every detail of the trip was very well planned for us by Diana and indeed perfect: comfortable and romantic overnight train journey from London and back, elegant and exclusive hotel on the Eriska island, wonderful food (try their almond croissant for breakfast!), very attentive hotel staff, amazing places Andrew showed us during our trip.

Our special thank you to our superb guide Andrew, the trip would not be the same without his knowledge of local history and geography.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Scotland. I would highly recommend using Scottish Clans and Castles’ services if you want quality!

The best experience of a lifetime. It was such a positive way to plan our first international trip. Diana toook the reins and planned the itinerary, places to stay, and made it so that we knew that we had meals arranged. Her guidance gave me the freedom that allowed me to focus on activities and details everywhere we went. Truly the way to go!

My husband and I wanted to have a self-driving trip in Scotland, and contacted Scottish Clans Castles. Diana asked us what we would like to do, and I explained our dream trip to her. She came up with a plan which I could never have arranged myself. We traveled the beautiful and quiet Isle of Mull and stayed at beautiful castle and hotels. Everything was so perfect and I could thank Diana enough for our special trip.

My mother and I went on an Outlander tour in June 2018 that we absolutely loved! We were both a little anxious about being in an unfamiliar place, but every place we stayed at they made us feel at home. The tour was not only about seeing filming locations of Outlander, but gave us insight to the history of Scotland. The humbling battlefields, beautiful castles, friendly people all made us feel like we belonged. If anyone is considering taking this tour and is unsure...go ahead and do it. It was the most amazing experience I have ever had! Thank you to Clans and Castles and all the owners of the hotel establishments for making us feel like family and showing us a wee bit of Scotland!

The entire experience was wonderful. The accommodations were great in each location and all the places that we toured were beautiful. The guide was just amazing, very knowledgeable and personable. The tour was designed to visit filming locations used during the filming of "Outlander", but it was also so much more. It included a trip on a turntable ferry to Skye and a storyteller on the Isle of Skye. I loved learning all I could absorb about Scotland.

Our group of six went on the Outlander tour. Best time ever with our fantastic tour guide Heather. We saw and heard about mountains and lochs, standing stones and brochs, castles and palaces, Scottish history and lore, fairies and giants, Culloden and the Bonnie Prince. We also saw Outlander sites (think Lollybroch, and others) with some Harry Potter thrown in for good measure. The accommodations and dining were fantastic too. Thanks Diana for a very memorable experience with Clans and Castles.

My husband and I booked a 2 week tour of Scotland with Scottish Clans and Castles.
We worked with Tom to build a fantastic itinerary that included some of the best sights of Scotland, as well as a light exploration of our family histories. Throughout the process, Tom responded quickly to our needs and last minute changes as we discovered the great opportunities available to us - our original one week trip expanded to include 15 days!

Every detail was very well taken care of, from our first check in at Edinburgh to the final drop off our very lovely, and well used, Audi A4. We were so pleased with our accommodations in each city. We had a great mix of hotels, guest houses and charming B&B's, plus one night in a castle. Every one was charming in its own way, and the people were fabulous.

We were also very fortunate to both find some links to our Scottish ancestors in Brora and in Glenelg. We saw the Military Tattoo, participated in the Edinburgh festival, rode electric bikes through the Cairngorms, hiked to the Quiraing, visited the beaches of Harris, bought a bit of tweed and enjoyed tasting quite a few whiskies along the way. It was the perfect way to top off 20 years of marriage.

I will certainly be recommending Clans and Castles to our friends and family should they choose to visit Scotland in the future

We loved our guided Outlander Classic Tour! There were only 5 of us in a van driven by Blue Badge Scottish Guide Pauline Corrigan. As our tour included film locations and historical sites, Pauline continued to weave Scottish history and Outlander, along with other items as we expressed interest. Every accommodation was individually owned and managed - we met charming and personable proprietors in country manors, seaside B & Bs, and elegant townhomes. Absolutely no issues or complaints. Six stars. Thank you for making us fall in love with Scotland.

Kudos to the Clans & Castles team for creating the ultimate Highland tour. So much fun! We were two friends from South Carolina -- one who has lived all over the world and the other who has never traveled abroad; one who is an Outlander uber-fan and the other who had never heard of Claire or Jamie; both had Skye on her bucket list -- we put ourselves in Alastair's hands and loved every minute of our guided tour. There were only five of us with our AMAZING guide, Pauline Corrigan, who took us to all the must-see places, but more importantly to me, introduced us to magical out-of-the way spots we would never have found driving around on our own. Also, we were introduced to the fabulous Scottish storyteller George Macpherson, the incredible historian Erik Lundberg and the debonair Caberfeigh, Lord Cromartie, John Ruaridh Mackenzie (to whom I shall be forever grateful for giving me my first taste of Dalmore), and the sparkling entrepreneur Sarah McCaig, who has taken an old kirk and made it new again -- deftly bringing us full circle in our adventures. The accommodations were all great (I loved the B&Bs best) and we ate REALLY well. We covered A LOT of ground and a lot of history in a short period of time but we still had time to savor the raw beauty of it all. I was not the Outlander uber-fan but as we traveled, there was much discussion about the Outlander aspect of the places we visited and my companions were very excited, so that topic seemed well-covered. One travel note: we were there in early October and there were no crowds. The weather was mostly glorious, the fall colors were on full display and there were times when we were literally the only people at some of the most popular sites which gave us a unique opportunity to explore and experience the castles in particular.

So, many many thanks to Alastair and Diane for creating such a unique experience, and a special thank you to Pauline for so generously sharing her encyclopedic knowledge and love of Scotland with us. We'll be back!
