A very clean but very expensive market open everyday but Monday. The food is quality though so you get what you pay for I guess. Even the vendor from the fruit and veg stand at the top of the street admitted this might be the most expensive market in Paris. Then he sold me on cheap and pricy tomatoes and told me to taste the difference. He was right. Excellent expensive tomatoes. I hated that he was right but so it goes. The seafood stands were also expensive with langoustines ranging from 23-98€ depending on the type. Yikes. There was a small stand selling roasted chicken that had the longest line. A good idea if your hotel is nearby. The fromagerie on the street was reasonable and we snagged a delightful Camembert. For a tourist, it’s a fun thing to see if in the area which is off the beaten track a fair bit. Test your French and eat great vegetables.

Rue Poncelet is my happy place! We stayed nearby on Rue de l'Etoile and wandered to Rue Poncelet every morning. We didn't end up purchasing from any of the produce or flower stalls, as they were pricey for our budget, but the produce looked amazing. There was a boulangerie and a chocolate shop that we bought from every day. Also an Aldi and a Picard here, if you need to supplement your pricey produce. Clothing stores on Ternes rounded out a great morning of shopping!

The markets at rue Poncelet and rue Moffetard are quintessentially Parisian. The rue Poncelet market is particularly inviting as it has a combination of fruit, vegetables and produce stalls lined up alongside some of the best food stores in the city. Even in the windy cold of November these little shops open their fronts to the streets in a symphony of color, sound and aromas.

We visited the underground cellars at Fromagerie des Gourmets at 7, rue Poncelet and sampled a beautiful assortment of cheeses. Across the street is one of the excellent PAUL bread shops. And perhaps the best fish monger for its size in the city is just up the street. It is a unique experience!

We spent 5 days living in apartment at Rue Poncelet and I must say that location is not only great because of its proximity to the Arc de Triomph and Ternes Metro station, but also has this fantastic little market with fresh fruits, vegetables, bakeries, wine and cheese stores and many more. It opens in the morning and closes late enough to buy some nice goods on your way back to the place you live in. Salesmen speak only French mostly or some basic English but it shouldn’t be a problem since they’re kind and helpful. One advice: do not touch fruits or vegetables by yourself – it makes them less kind. Hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we did.

The Champs Elysses is relatively elegant, but the only "grocery" store is Monoprix, good for many things, but lacking in some areas. We lucked out with a local's recommendation to try the "Marche Poncelet", a 10 minute walk away. Down Wagram, left at Ternes (great flower market on the corner), and a right on Poncelet. This is not a huge market, but it had what we wanted. A meat and poultry store, roasting chickens before your eyes, some vegetable stores - one selling 12 freash figs for 2 euros, and a package of stuffed escargots. On Ternes there was an Eric Kayser boulangerie that makes the best baguettes so far in Paris, for only 1 .15 euro. So, if you love market-fresh goods, and live near the Champs and "are looking", go to "Marché Poncelet-Bayen, rue Bayen, Paris 17e".

We spent 4 of the most wonderful years of our lives in an apartment six doors from the market on Rue Poncelet! It was a marvelous experience for looking, shopping for fresh foods and talking with locals.
If you don't stay around there, go visit the market. Generally closed on Mondays and half days on Saturday.

Typical fake authentic French market. Everything is expensive, they just don't follow the seasons and you can find whatever you want at any time as soon as you pay a fortune. You are close by the Champs-Elysées, it's quite normal you could not find something authentic so close, don't dream.

Great veggies, fruit, ready made chicken, cheese, pastries etc. If you are close to the Arc de Triumph - it's a 10 min walk but also easy from Metro stop Ternes. A few good wine shops in the area as well as restaurants & brasseries. A locals favorite!

I visited this market nearly every morning of my stay in Paris last year and this year as well. The frits are fresh and their fresh orange juice is arguably the best I've had . It became an every morning routine for me.

Definitely expensive but I'd visit the shops there again ... just for their fruits.

We were staying at the Niel Elysees hotel, so the market was just a step away. A great place to start your day! You can get pretty much all you need for a great meal from this market, fresh fruit and veggies (which are the starts of the market), beautiful baked goods from the boulangerie, good cheeses from the fromagerie, and everything else in between. Also, there's a big supermarket right at the beginning of it called "Leader Price" which sells things in value packages, and at a VERY low price Great if you're on a budget, or if you're staying for a long time in Paris.
