We were very keen to visit the museum having read Edmund da Waal's books. We were not disappointed. The museum is full of glorious things and the audio guide that's provided really helps to focus you as you walk around. The story of the family is so interesting and adds meaning to the objects. A really special museum and well worth a visit.

Extraordinary collection of art and furniture from late 18th century housed in a,purpose built mansion just over 100 years old. The family story behind this is well known and shocking and is bought to life even more in the house than from the de Waal books. Beautifully maintained with an exceptionally informative audio guide (at least the French version). A real treat.

Beautiful museum, worth visiting. Interesting the sad history of the family, it is a real pleasure to visit the rooms of this mansion, both the first and second floors. Also the bathrooms and the elevator or the kitchen, and have a clear idea of how the wealthy classes of the time lived.

Beautiful mansion filled with exquisite original furnishings and art. It is a time capsule from a century ago and has a marvelous collection of 18th Century furniture and objet d'art. The English audio guide was very helpful and so was the video.
The best part was that the museum was not crowded, even at the end of June.

This museum really is a hidden gem in Paris and one of the highlights of our trip. Shout out to the security guy at the front gate who was so welcoming on the day we arrived and took the trouble to have a long chat to our girls (9 and 12). Reading “Letters to Camondo” prior to this visit helped provide background, however is not essential as the excellent audio guide provided ample information. Take time to listen to the additional optional numbers as there was often fascinating information about a variety of pieces in each room (e.g. vases that had been in Marie Antoinette’s bedroom) and the man himself. The movie in one of the rooms upstairs is also essential watching to learn about the history of the family. Amazing what technology he had in his house at the time and the fantastic condition it is maintained in. This museum is not that well known. Spoke to a local tourist guide and she had never heard of it. Loved being in rooms all by myself to soak up the beauty. Will definitely return. Well worth making time in your schedule to visit.

Interesting little museum. The house belonged to a banking family, but after the son died in the Second World War, it became a museum of decorative arts. During our visit on a Saturday afternoon, there was no queue for tickets and generally not many visitors.

Beautiful home with collections of three generations including paintings, furniture, sculpture, silver services and a nice look at the inner workings of the household staff. The kitchen is really worth a few minutes. The setting in the 8th arr. behind Parc Monceau could not be more appealing. There are very helpful hand held guides, but so many objects to admire that you will likely plan another visit on your next trip to Paris. A little out of the way but not to be missed

Sheer opulence--such abundance! And as you progress upstairs, you begin to understand the exceptional tragedy that befell this family: the holocaust. One feels the unbearable loss of a child to WWI and the unthinkable deportation of a family to death camps. Heartbreaking.
Big feelings at this museum. Worth it, for sure.

This is an amazing and sad testament to the tragedy that befell the Jews of France. As multi-time visitors to Paris, we were moved to find this museum. Take the time to visit and learn what hatred and bigotry mean.

This is a lovely house owned by a wealthy Jewish family with strong collection ethics. The guide gave us an excellent description of the items, and how they fitted into the history of the family. Has a sad ending too.

There are two Vigeé Le Brun 's paintings. 'The Baccante ' and the other one is a Lady , but I don't remember her name.

Hi, I'd like to know if there are lifts for visitors in Musee Nissim de Camondo and Musee des Arts Decoratifs? Thank you

The Museum Nissim de Camondo has no lifts for the visitors.
As quoted above, there are 3 levels and the stairways are either monumental and easy to climb...
There are two lifts, one for servants and the other for "masters", but none of them are open to the visitors...
