About
Hello, my name is Guillaume Le Roux, and I operate a tour business called Le Vrai Paris (The Real Paris). I am a member of the Paris Visitors’ Bureau, as a tour guide. In this capacity, I’m helping to implement the “Destination Paris: la Ville Augmentée” (Destination Paris: the Augmented City) programme, which aims to attract young European travellers to Paris. I work with the Seine-Saint-Denis & Val-de-Marne Departmental Committee for Tourism, which has also given me its seal of approval and which, much to the delight of my visitors, sells several of my tours. These tours are aimed at… – first-timers to Paris who need an introduction to the city: I give them an overview of the city to make it less intimidating for them and so that they feel confident about going out and exploring it further. – and Paris connoisseurs, from France or abroad, who want to discover the city in greater depth, be surprised, and get off the beaten track.

About a month ago, I went on one of Guillaume’s tours to La Nouvelle Athènes near Pigalle. The tour, in French, only had 4 clients that day…which was wonderful as we all had great interaction. So many things impressed me that day, but the most important (other than Guillaume’s intense knowledge of the area), was the presentation of the tour. Guillaume was attentive to each of us, allowing us to stop and take pictures, ask questions, etc. He paced his speaking so that each of us could take in what he was saying. He had plenty of very interesting anecdotes about the area and had a picture book that gave us more understanding of the history. The tour was so interesting that I asked him to give my granddaughter and me a private tour of Montmartre which he did 2 weeks later. My 18 year old granddaughter just loved the tour and thought Guillaume was funny and had great stories. This tour was such a success that a week later Guillaume took my brother and me on a tour of the Latin Quarter. Wherever you chose to go with Guillaume, he will provide you with a wonderful tour. His English is very good, so you do not need to worry about not understanding and he paces his tours so that every one can benefit. He is very conscious about his clients well being. Of course, he also gives tours in French.

Our group of friends toured Chinatown in Paris, one of the largest Asiatic communities in Western Europe, with Guillaume as our guide. His intelligence, wit, and charm made the tour not only informative, but absolutely fascinating. He even brought a notebook with photos of the area in the past, even some old postcards, to enrich our understanding of the area. An engaging speaker, we were enthralled with the history, culture, religion and food of the area. An outstanding experience !

We are culinary food design agency and set our feet on the street during a private tour with our guide Guillaume. It was a surprising day which started in Chinatown. Guillaume let us see many Asian shops and told a lot about the interesting history of the neighborhood. Later he took us to So Pi in the 9th and showed us all kind of trendy food shops. Guillaume is a great guide with a lot of knowledge. We can really recommend him.

We did a food tour with my two teenage granddaughters. We visited local vegetable shops, pastry shops , bread, ice cream and a wonderful cheese shop. I purchased an eclair that was probably the best thing I ate in a ten day trip. Guillaume was very informative and friendly. He was easy to talk to and we really enjoyed our tour.

First of all my wife & I were greatly anticipating a 1/2 day visit to the famous Paris Flea Market ; We got early Sat , called a taxi and headed off from our hotel . Our driver did not speak much English so we handed him the address of the Fea Market ( 140 Rue des Rosier ). Shortly after he dropped us off we realized the driver had taken us to the wrong place . There was no flea market anywhere in site ! In panic I called our guide Gillaume on his cell phone who informed me that we had been driven to Rue Des Rosiers -Paris instead of Rue Des Rosier-St Ouen . which is just outside the Paris city boundaries . Gillaume calmly got us into another taxi, spoke to the new driver ...who promptly drove us to the correct Rue Des Rosier. It was comforting to have a calming freind looking out for us on our first day in a big city like Paris . We enjoyed the nice informative tour of the markets provided by Guillaume; He is also a wealth of knowledge about Paris ...its history ,cuisine, music and other cultural aspects . We are looking forward to an in-depth " behind the scenes " tour of the city with Guilluame , next year when we return..

Thanks so much Rick for this nice feedback, I'm happy to know you had a great experience. First of all you were very friendly and polite in your emails and I appreciated this a lot. This morning started by this unexpected mistake from the taxi driver but finally everything went well. It was a pleasure to guide you both, I hope to see you again in Paris and have the chance to show you more. Best,

Guillaume guided us three times in our summer school in Paris, there is a reason we went three times with him!
He was sincere to introduce us the food he likes and truly recommended and offered different levels of price for restaurants, but he usually goes for the reasonable ones!
As a local, he has his way introducing not only the food, but the place he grew up, Paris. Personally, I like to travel with local when I am outta my country, not to mention a local who spends time visiting places to compare.
Fun time with you, Guillaume!

I was very critical about the idea of booking a tour guide, like do we need "a rented friend" to show is around, isn't there enough stuff we can discover on our own or by using the internet? It was just my husband who found out about Guillaume's tours and suggested to do one and it was just the two of us in Paris. Because of the holiday on Monday, where the shops would be closed, Guillaume offered spontaneously to guide us for 60 minutes on Friday evening around his arrondissement and also take us to his favorite cheese store. Guillaume was very reliable and is very good in adapting to his clients and their wishes. The cheese shop was great and we were happy shopping there with his help. They have a "cheese closet" with an automatic glass lid standing on the street. We are still enjoying the cheeses and sharing them with friends at home. He recommended other stores and was very helpful in giving us tips even beyond the tour itself. After we had some cheese together, he booked a table for us for dinner after we asked him to. We were at the Atelier Rodier and loved it there. Guillaume came by before the pre dessert to see if everything was o.k. We had a lot of things in common like our love for Istanbul and künefe. I would use his services again any time since it was really worth it and helped us find a different understanding of the city by meeting someone how lives there and knows a lot about the city, rather then just being tourists. We did that the rest of the time, so it was a highlight of our trip. Thanks Guillaume and hope to meet you again in Paris oder Istanbul. Anna & Stephan

Hello Anna & Stephan, I'm so happy about your review, it is so authentic, like you. You were afraid of having a "a rented friend"? That's good cause I'm not this! :) But when there is some good energy, connection and sometimes friendship come naturally! You were some real cheese diggers and I love that (cheese and cheese diggers) I was happy I could show you some real stuff and for a good quality price (cheese can be over pricey sometimes). Künefe for life! We are all made of künefe :) See you somewhere between Istanbul and Paris, or maybe Germany! Thanks again for your nice feedback! Guillaume

We are visiting Paris 1 to 2 times a year, already for some years now. Just before our last trip, Le Vrai Paris was mentioned in a travel program on Flemish television. As we are always looking for another part of Paris to visit, this was exactly what we needed! Guillaume took us for a stroll from the Canal de l'Ourcq, via the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, through the Villa's up to Belleville. A part of Paris we wouldn't have visited without Guillaume. We discovered e.g. a small Russian church, well hidden for the public, but so beautiful; another discovery was a small but very cosy coffee bar, on a nice square.
It was a wonderful experience, also for my teenage doughters. Guillaume responded spontaneously to their interests as well. My youngest daughter is a great fan of street art, when he saw that, he took us to a small street with an amazing piece of street art.
All 4 of us were really excited after the 2 hours walk. I could recommend it to everyone and we'll surely be asking Guillaume again for another walk. Thanks Guillaume for this wonderful experience!
