It is less well known than some of the more main-stream and central food streets and we found it through researching on-line and were particularly interested because it boasted the only other branch of Pozzetto in Paris. It's quite a long walk from central Paris but Metro Villiers is very close to it. However, the walk through Paris is part of the fun for us and the thought of a lovely Pozzetto ice-cream spurred us on to greater endeavour. So…..we were a bit cross to discover that the branch had shut down and there was no mention of it on-line. We later discovered that another new branch had opened up, surprisingly, around the corner from the original. Anyway, enough about that.

The Rue de Levis gave us many wonderful compensations and we are really glad we went. It has very good butchers, cheese shops and delis, plus branches of elite gourmet chains such as Arnaud Delmontel (better macaroons here than at Pierre Herme), Jeff de Bruges (stunning ice cream at this chocolatier - one of the few branches in Paris that had an ice-cream counter and the salted caramel is a joy) and Famille Mary for honey products. There are also pleasant bars for a restorative cup of coffee. The food shops continue north in Rue de Tocqueville. Not once did we think that there were more tourists than locals here - this offers a true taste of Paris and we look forward to returning.

If you want to get off the beaten path just a bit, head to Rue de Levis! Such a great area with many fantastic shops, restaurants and local eateries. Here are some places to check out while you are in the area: Boulanger de Levis, Androuet, Epicrie Provencale, La Cave 106, and Aux Merveilleux.

Rented an apartment on Rue de Levis for a week--no prior knowledge of area, other than apartment interior online, and general knowledge of area. Apartment was lovely--located on a street exceedingly similar to the Rue de Cler area, but without the Rick Steves influence/popularity! Lovely street market area at top of street, which blends into shops/restaurants as you move farther down. Very close to metro stop, and near the L'Arc de Triumphe. Will mention that the metro stop is a known start area for pickpocket gangs, recognizable by groups of 3-4 wearing earpieces and hopping the train cars at stops while targeting people. They will track targets thru several train changes, so stay alert! Lovely restaurants and a variety of grocery store options, as well as food-specific shops throughout the area. Park for children within walking distance, for those traveling with little ones!

Rue Lepic my favourite street in Montmartre cheese shops fruit and veg bread and fantastic cakes. Stop a while for coffee or stay for lunch watch the world pass by feel at home and relax.

We began and ended our time in Paris by walking around the Rue de Lévis neighborhood we were staying at. While we maybe didn't love our actual Airbnb accommodations, we were quite fond of the neighborhood, so we spent a few hours wandering around picking up delicious treats.

I highly recommend Aux Merveilleux De Fred. We also stopped at Jeff de Bruges for souvenir shopping. Our final food stop was La Meringaie; this was our third and only successful attempt at visiting this delightful pavlova shop. We brought back this absolutely delicious passionfruit + raspberry merengue to indulge in before finally leaving our Airbnb.

A really great little street to stroll along. It is pedestrianised (a few hundred metres) and full of small specialist shops from cheese, tea, coffee to linen and fashion. There are also fruit stalls with magnificant displays of fruit and vegetables. If you want to take home wonderful macaroons, then buy them here the day or the day before you go home - they are much cheaper than at the airport. The lady who served us said they would keep up to 5 days as long as you didn't, keep them somewhere too hot e.g. in direct sunlight. Our hotel was happy to keep them in one of their fridges. They made wonderful presents for our friends.

It's the market street for the 17th and thus a great place to shop for all sorts of food, which is a lot of fun. And there are lots of good restaurants all around.

I decided to spend two nights at La Duette in the 17 Arrondissement in Paris close to where I
needed to be.

This 29 room nonsmoking Hotel with free Wi-Fi in the rooms and public areas is situated on rue de Levis next to the Marché de Levis located between the neighborhoods of Monceau and Batignolles. The market is open nearly every day, including Sunday mornings till about 1pm.

If you are traveling alone you can take the Air France bus from Orly or Charles de Gaulle to Etoile/ Champs Elysees for ‎€12 or ‎€17 and then take a taxi to the Hotel for around ‎€10.
‎Go by taxi for two or more people as there is now a flat rate fee of ‎€30/35 from Orly or ‎€50/55 from CDG into Paris.
I arrived after 17 hours and the receptionist was very welcoming professional and polite checked me in and showed me the lift which like older buildings in Paris was miniscule. I had one carry-on bag and that was fine.
My room number 14 a standard double gave onto the rue de Levis clean small with a suitcase rack air conditioner TV safe hairdryer and some sort of open space to hang your clothes with a couple of drawers beneath.
The bed and pillows were very comfortable with two small side tables and the lighting nicely brightening the room.
They managed to fit in a small glass table with a chair in front of the bed.
The small bathroom had a couple of soap bars and a two in one shower and shampoo gel with soft towels in different sizes. The shower cubicle had a Rainfall Square Shower Head that made you not want to get out of the shower.
I was told there are other larger rooms but at higher prices than the offer I opted for.
My rate included breakfast in the basement which I believe is a converted wine cellar or storage area nicely decorated with a touch of charm had the usual choice of cold meats, cheeses, soft boiled eggs Viennese pastries, bread, fruit salad, yogurt, muesli and cereals, coffee tea or hot chocolate, fresh fruit juice, butter and jams etc. on a self-service basis that made you feel at home.
Apart from the market place a must to walk around the area has a variety of small boutiques and many reasonably priced restaurants. There is a Bank opposite the Hotel and a Post Office nearby.
It would take around half an hour to stroll to the Champs Elysees walking through either the Park Monceau or rue Miromensil passing by the Eglise St. Augustin.
Accessibility by bus number 30 or Metro number 2 from Villiers or Metro 3 from Europe is also very convenient towards Montmartre and other major sites.
I would definitely return to stay at La Duette for a night or two and encourage anyone to do so but go for a bigger room.
