The three Frank Gehry buildings are outstanding. You can park below one of them and walk along the bank of the Rine, with a skyline of more interesting buildings and some old harbour machines. There are bars, boats and birds around.

This is a nice area to take a stroll in. The buildings are quirky and well worth a look at. It was December when we went so cold but you can see that there is also a place in the river where you can take a swim in the summer.

This former cargo harbour off the Rhine is now surrounded by hotels and restaurants of the highest calibre. It's also a gret place for an afternoon stroll, or an evening picnic.

Dusseldorf is located in an important economic centre in the Rhine-Rurharea. Also in Dusseldorf some industrial areas has been transformed. The former Rhine harbour has undergone a drastic transformation in the last two decades. The MedienHafen has becom the home to media and communications companies, fashion and architecture as well as art and culture. The harbour owes its special charm to the mix of new and old.
The famous American architect Frank O. Gehry, born in 1929, has designed three striking buildings for the waterfront. The project as a single entity, provides a unifying urban complex through the consistent application of identical window units throughout and, a familial relationship with the ground plane. The complex was build in 1996-1999. The middle building is most noticeable by the waving facades and stainless steel cladding. Gehry has used two similar window and door frames used for the three buildings. The frames are not right in the front, but turn a bit off the wall. Remarkably, the frames are not straight situated above each other.

We walked from the old town to the 'medienhafen'. That was a nice walk. The architecture was really great, the atmosphere was very lounge.
If you visit Dusseldorf, just walk to this part of the city.

Worth the walk out to the harbor area to have a look at these buildings. Interesting how they are constructed and look. Was told it’s bette Ron a sunny day with the sun shining off the reflective material.

The Gehry buildings are a must see when visiting Dusseldorf. The angles, curves and lines give a continuously changing viewing experience as you move in and around the buildings.

while walking towards the Rhine tower, one would come across these bizarre yet stunning pieces of utter brilliance.. how these were made is hard to imagine.. constructed by Frank Gehry, these riverfront buildings give a futuristic twist to the city & have the offices of various media agencies.. Had a great timing strolling across these buildings & then reaching the Rhine tower.

The area is worth a visit if only to view the three beautiful Frank Gehry buildings. Nearby is the observation tower (Rheinturm).

It was a clear sunny day, albeit cold, to walk amongst so many buildings with an attitude. Despite their differing angles and swagger, they all seemed to work the light so well. It is amazing to walk amongst them, they inspired and drew our gaze.

It was so much more fun strolling through these different shapes and light than walking block of squares and rectangles.
