One of the most beautiful buildings in this area of the city near Atocha Railway Station is Palacio De Fomento.
Palacio De Fomento ,aka,Ministry Of Agriculture ,is a splendid looking building dating from the 19th century ,constructed from designs from architect Ricardo Velazquez Bosco it's a wonderful example of Neoclassical architecture ,one of the most distinctive features of this building are the set of statues atop the building known collectively as La Gloria Y Los Pegasos ( The Glory And The Pegasos ) the work of sculptor Agustin Quarol, all in all a wonderful building to check out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Paseo De La Infanta Isabel.

Palacio de Fomento is an impressive building. It was built at some stage during the 19th century and has always been a government building housing various ministries. We only saw this building from a distance a nd for a short time so can not say too much on it. However its significance is shown by the fact it has been put on the List of important Cultural and Heritage buildings of Spain. Worth a closer look.

This imposing building caught my attention when I was in the area. The facade of this building is awesome, with bronze sculptures at the top. Beautiful architecture indeed. Now it houses the Ministry of Agriculture. Great to take a photo before moving on.

We were wandering around this part of town around Atocha Train Station and you cannot fail to see or miss this amazing building.
Originally housing The Ministry Of Public Works but now home to The Ministry Of Agriculture this is without a shadow of a doubt one of the standout pieces of architecture in this part of town with Atocha Train Station being the most famous but that said the Palacio De Fomento is one fabulous looking building.
The facade of this building is awesome, it's certainly a grand piece of architecture, atop the building are a set of Sculpures designed by Agusti Querol Subirats and called La Gloria Y Los Pegasos the original 1905 statues have been replaced by bronze statues and look amazing .
This building was placed on Spain's national register in 1989 and is classed as Bein De Interés Cultural ( property of public interest ) and makes for some great photographic opportunities .
Palacio De Fomento is found on Paseo De La Infanto Isabel not to far from the famous Atocha Train Station.
Well worth checking out.

This architectural treasure is located on Paseo de la Infanta Isabel, opposite the Atocha railway, station and dates to 1897. Various Government Departments have inhabited the building since its inauguration and it now houses the Agricultural Ministry. The highlight of the building is the central body of the façade with its decorations of tiles and enamels and immense columns.,
Mounted atop the building are replica bronze sculptures entitled La Gloria y los Pegasos; these replaced the marble sculptures originally installed in 1905.

This building that dates from the 19th century originally housed the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. Hence the Name. However, it now contains the Agricultural Ministry and their title is marked on the outside of the building. An office building therefore, not open to the public during the week, but at weekends tours showing the internal architecture take place and are very popular, often booked well in advance. Not a must see, but well worth a look if you are travelling past. The statuary on the top of the building is particularly impressive.
