Surprisingly, renting a car for your stay in Lima is not at all a bad idea. Driving is really easy , there is lots of parking and with Applications like WASE there is no trouble getting to places.
So where is the problem ? In the renting.
Although Lima seems like a modern city
When it comes to going through the process of the actual renting, it feels like eating gravel. Stay away from internet companies like Rentalcars who will brush you off in third world countries even when you booked through them. Go directly to the local companies and make sure everything is ok and closed before you leave the country.

Let me start with the positive—the vehicle was fantastic and my father, who I had rented the car for, absolutely loved it. He wasn’t part of the booking process, this was all a surprise, and thus, if he enjoyed it, I’m happy.

Now, the negative—never in my life has booking a car, or anything for that matter, been so difficult. I called the number on the website to inquire about renting the Bentley Continental GT and spoke to a man in the Madrid office named Roberto. Roberto is agreeable on everything—car, date, time, and the free home delivery they advertise on their website. Fast forward 48 hours and I’m told that the Continental GT was no longer available. I am not given any other excuses than that. I ask what could be done (a different brand was not satisfactory as it was my dad’s dream to drive that particular Bentley) and the reply was that they had Continental GT convertible they could provide. You would think that if a business made a mistake they will do what they can to accommodate a client and assume the responsibility of no longer providing the product the client requested. Instead, they offered this solution for an extra 200 Euros. That is on top of what is already a very expensive rental. So their mistake cost me 200 Euros. At the end we make the payment plus a 3000 Euros hold on the credit card in case you damage the vehicle (fairly standard for luxury car rental).

Fast forward another 48 hours, the day before my day is supposed to receive the car for his 70th Birthday surprise. I wake up to an email stating that they cannot provide the home delivery service for less than 100 Euros. That’s right. A service they advertise as free with their luxury rentals, they are now charging me for. The explanation was simple—their representative in Marbella cannot bring the car to my father’s home because it’s too far (even though our house IN Marbella is 11kms from the town centre).

All along these issues I try to be reasonable with Rodrigo and explain that all I am asking for is what is stated on their website and what he categorically agreed to when the booking was made. If their representative in Marbella cannot deliver the car it is something that should be brought up prior to reserving the vehicle. I could open the greatest business by promising everything and then play the “it’s not me but them” card. For such an expensive service and product this is not good enough.

However, Roberto gives me the number of the representative in question, her name is Diana. And she is the reason why my father’s surprised wasn’t ruined. She agreed to deliver the car because of this occasion. She was incredibly professional, to the contrary of head office in Madrid, and was an absolutely pleasure to deal with. I recommend dealing with her immediately by asking her number to head office in Madrid.

You’d think the story would be over now, right? Well, no. Five days after the car was returned without a scratch and in perfect shape, I still had not received the 3000 Euros back that were placed on hold when the vehicle was reserved. I tried to get in touch with Roberto in Madrid and he keeps telling me that they released the funds 3 days prior. I tell him that’s impossible as I keep checking my bank account. Thankfully I asked Diana to look into it and she manages to send me a copy of the receipt of the 3000 Euros reimbursement only to realize they had gotten the wrong credit card. Another person was sent my money. In the mean time I keep asking Roberto to give me an explanation—and to release my funds and send me a copy of the receipt. But after several messages still no answer. So the next morning they finally answered my prayers and send me a copy of the receipt. And obviously when I asked Roberto what had happened he said it wasn’t his fault and someone else in the office had told him the payment had gone through days prior—like I said, the lack of communication in that office is astonishing.

To summarize and because a luxury car rental should be a joyful moment of driving an amazing vehicle on an amazing day—the car itself was impeccable and Rent Bull’s Marbella representative, Diana, was astonishingly professional and helpful. That said, the head office in Madrid is unbelievably disorganized. They offer promises on services they cannot keep. They say “yes” to everything but then the problems just keep on coming. And on top of all that, it was a mission to get my security deposit back.

Normally I would tell you to categorically stay away from this company. But thanks to Diana I would just tell you to use this company ONLY if you can deal with her.

We booked cars summer 2019 in Palma for a client. We paid the deposit, then needed less cars. 2 months later still waiting for the promised refund. No one answers. DO NOT USE - cars exists, but rest is a scam.

It is a shame that an intermediary that charges an important commission, breaches contract and is dedicated to spamming. We have been threatened several times with legal action, we have told you that FORWARD, but you know that you are not right, you are constantly on the phone, to annoy workers and now, to do online spam from several accounts. You can not be more childish and unprofessional.

In the beginning, the booking and everything was very smooth. We paid our deposit of 30% but then changed the cars (which also influenced the price dramatically). Basically, we now had to pay less than what we already pre-paid and rent bull needs to reimburse us (the changes were free). Rent Bull has always ignored emails and calls regarding this matter, but at least we received the 2 cars we wanted. After that, we haven’t heard from the company, but they still owe us almost 17.000€. Borja, the Director, ignores any contact by email, calls or WhatsApp and informs us he is on vacation (since 2
Months). If we call the office, if someone answers at all, they say he isn’t on vacation! Since he is the director also no one else can give us information which leaves us stuck to start legal actions.

I absolutely can’t recommend this company!
