This monument stands in tribute to Queen Isabella I. The statues depicts the Queen on horseback, carrying a cross. At her side are Cardinal Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros and the Grand Captain, who is leading the horse by the bridle. Both alluding to the reconquest of Spain from the Moors. The statue sits atop a pedestal on which is inscribed with words referring to the discovery of Americas
The monument is located the Museum of Natural History, so worth a look if in the area.

My wife and I were waiting for the Madrid bus when we saw this statue, it is impressive and worth a look for a few minutes.
