We saw this statue from a distance, but it was in the middle of the road. It was part of a traffic island and practically impossible to have close access to it. However, it probably looks better from far away. No idea who the statue was for, but now that we have done a little bit of research, we know it is a late 19th century bronze monument to Manuel Gutiérrez de la Concha, known as Marques del Duero, who was a hero of some wars. The whole work was constructed by melting the bronze of old cannons provided by the Artillery Corps, and thus creating this equestrian statue! Amazing!

This statue stands in tribute to Manuel Gutiérrez, the Marquess del Duero and a Spanish general during the Carlist War of succession to the Spanish throne. His is honoured for his victories that eventually lead to the defeat of the rebellion and restoration of the Bourbons to the Spanish throne.

This monument is an equestrian statue and depicts Marquess del Duero on horseback (obviously). That's about all I can say about it since the statue sits in the middle of a busy roundabout and I just didn't feel like getting run over for a better view, especially for someone who is likely unknown outside of Spain. Nothing wrong with the statue, but I wouldn't go out of the way.

This monument of a man on a striding horse is impressive but located on a traffic island so is not accessible.
