A little over a week ago, my wife and I went on a tour of the Ribera del Duero wine region with Benedicte. We are generally not big fans of guided tours as we are pretty good about finding those tucked away spots off of most tourists radar. But since we didn't have a car and really wanted to tour the region, we thought we'd give it a go. Benedicte picked us up promptly at 7:00 (ugh!!) but we did beat the traffic out of Madrid. Had a light breakfast at a small inn and then headed to wine country. Our first stop was at a winery at a former monastery. Really beautiful facility and a tour of the vineyards by Land Cruiser was a great way to start the day. The wines were very nice (albeit pricey for this region) with a Cab being a nice surprise in this Tempranillo driven land. Out next stop will live in my memory for the rest of my life. We headed to a small winery in Piñel de Arriba. The smell of the local pine (similar to pinon) and the dusty streets reminded me of southern Colorado or New Mexico. We were greeted warmly by Jesus (winery owner, vineyard manager, house chef, and so much more) when we arrived. We had a short tour of the wine making facility, barrel room and bottling area. Tiny production and a 1-man show for the most part. Jesus' wife is a ballet dancer for the Spanish ballet and my wife is a cellist for the local ballet company so they chatted about music and the arts. Benedicte had promised lunch at the winery so we were escorted to the tasting room / dining room. Before us laid the appetizer spread. Jamon de Bellotta, manchego, tempranillo soaked manchego (rico!!), and mother in law tortilla (rico rico!!). And then the wine started flowing. Jesus only makes 2 wines and we only tasted the riserva tempranillo during our visit. Absolutely stunning wine. While we were snacking and visiting with Jesus' friend Mauro, Jesus was busy cooking our lunch of “lechazo” (baby lamb). The lunch spread included the lamb, a beautiful salad, grilled vegetables, homemade bread and even more of that killer tortilla. And even more wine finished with a shot of grappa which is reserved for friends and family. A 3 hour fiesta of food, wine, and new friends. Truly unforgettable. We did visit a 3rd winery which was very nice but a little anti-climatic. So if you are in Madrid, hook up with Benedicte and see what kind of surprise she can spring on you. You'll be glad you did. The reviews are 100000% accurate - this was one of our absolute most favorite days during our anniversary trip to Spain and Portugal.
I worked with Bénédicte in advance of our trip to get more information about the tour and work out all of the logistics. She was an absolute pleasure to work with, very understanding and accommodating and super responsive.
For the trip itself, Pablo was with us for the entire day and he was just wonderful. We met bright and early and during our trip to the Ribera region he shared fun facts all along the way.
The wineries we went to were all unique and interesting and beautiful - I won’t spoil any of the specifics for the day as that was half the fun, not knowing what we were about to see next. But trust me (I’ve been traveling through Europe on group and private tours for over 15 years) this was one of the best tours I’ve been on.
If you are thinking about doing this type of day trip you ABSOLUTELY shouldn’t look any further as Bénédicte and Pablo are absolute gems and will provide you with a wonderful day and memorable experience.
Thank you both so much for adding to our trip and making the day so special!!

It was cold and blustery and 7:00 AM as we gingerly opened the door at our apartment building and were startled as Benedicte, braving the cold, was already waiting and greeted with a smile warm enough to entice us to venture outside and begin our adventure to Ribera del Duero. The hour drive to the restaurant for breakfast passed in flash as we enjoyed the views of the icy mountains as Benectine went over the itinerary and provided interesting commentary about the region and its history. The old Lodge where Napoleon once slept was amazing and so was the breakfast of pan con tomate and café con leche. Not being morning people and from south Florida, the strong coffee was greatly appreciated! Now fully awake, the next hour went equally fast, watching the beautiful wintry landscape and Benedicte's relaxed and knowledgeable commentary making for a most enjoyable ride. We visited three very different Bodegas, A very modern state of the art Cepa 21, the very elegant and also modern Abadia Retuarta and its incredible hotel and spa housed in a pristine 16th century monastery where we enjoyed a fabulous feast for lunch. Our favorite was the Jesus Arbaz Bodega, a truly amazing 'boutique' bodega where our host was the inimitable Jesus himself. His passion for making great wine was evident in the pride he took in his wines, and as his eyes lit up when we tasted his pride and joy, the Rond de Jambe which he named in honor of his beautiful wife who is a ballet dancer. It was truly a moment that will always stay with us, and we brought home a bottle to recapture that wonderful memory. He ships as well, so he has found loyal customers, Benedicte bought some as well and told us her home is never without his wine. Must also mention the incredible feast that we enjoyed at the monastery, accompanied by their exceptional wines and cava, especially the Brut Rose Cava .. best I ever tasted and equal to my all time favorite the Veuve Cliquot Brut Rose. It was truly a Feast Among the Vines! Thank you Benedicte and thank you Jesus as well for making our tour to the Ribera del Duero the highlight of our vacation in Spain .. It was truly an excellent adventure. Mil gracias y nos veremos otra vez!

We just returned from a fantastic day with Pablo. We left Madrid, toured a top winery, sampled wines, had lunch at an olive oil museum/maker, then had a personal tour of Toledo. This is a first class tour with a first class tour guide. We were never rushed. Pablo did a good job of teaching us about the culture in central Spain.

Pablo was an excellent host/ guide for our day trip to Toledo and the wineries. His email correspondence prior to our day kept us up to date on the schedule ( he had to make some adjustments with wineries). He was prompt in picking us up from the hotel and treated us just like old friends right from the start. We were able to visit two very different wineries - one a corporate and one a small family owned vineyard. We enjoyed the contrast between the two. Both were wonderful and the wines were reflective of the region. The lunch was amazing! We went to an old village and feasted on indigenous foods from the region, with, of course, more wine. Then we were off to Toledo for a walking tour of the city. He was quite the tour guide there. Very informative and knowledgable and shared stories of the city's history. The cathedral was spectacular and made for gazing and admiring.
Pablo was attentive the entire day. He can talk about any topic. He shared much about his family, his life and his passion for the rival futbol team ( LOL, Pablo!). We felt comfortable and at ease the entire day.
This tour was well worth the money. We never opened our wallets once the entire day except to buy a couple of bottles of wine at reasonable prices.
If you like wines or are interested in a private tour of a region, this is the way to go. We would definitely do this again!

My husband and I celebrated our 5th year anniversary with a private wine tour to Ribera Del Duero. Our guide Benedicte was absolutely magnificent! We had wine tastings at 3 vineyards with lunch and wine at the third. The food was delicious and the wine at all 3 vineyards was spectacular. I recommend asking for the Reserva wines if not included in your tasting.
We enjoyed the tour so much we booked a second 2 days later to the city of Toledo. Benedicte arranged a private guided walking tour of the city with a 5 variety wine tasting with appetizers. The final part of the day was spent at a private mansion in Toledo where wine, appetizers and lunch were provided by a private cook. Everything especially the owner of the property was fabulous! I’ve never seen such gorgeous scenery. I highly recommend both tours!!!!

Super easy to make the reservation having called the local USAA phone number and got connected to someone who was really helpful and efficient in making our reservation for the tour to the Prado Museum and an afternoon lunch at the oldest restaurant in the world Botin famous for their suckling pig prepared in a very traditional oven. We met our tour guide right on time he gave us an overview then obtained the tickets and we went right into the museum just two couples and our tour guide Servet who was great . We have the opportunity to learn a lot about the works of art the history ask questions and enjoy the museum during the one hour and 30 minute tour. Then a short walk to the restaurant for lunch with good company good wine and a really cool atmosphere… Although I have to say I wasn’t thrilled with the pork It was a great day and a great way to see the museum and have a meal at the restaurant which is very difficult to get a reservation at. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to get a taste of the museum who has a limited background in our depreciation but is interested in learning. PS If you want to avoid having to get a locker at the museum do not bring a backpack like I did.

As a serious wine enthusiast who takes pride in enjoying about the best wines in the world one must not only sip this liquid, but also must know the land, the people who cultivates these grapes, their traditions and off course, their wineries. It is with that intent that I wanted to know more about Ribera Del Duero region wines in Spain. I wanted to “swim” in it and experience it all. Thankfully I found DeVinus and Benedicte who made it all happen.
We were picked at our hotel early in the morning and driven to a nice little place an hour drive north of Madrid. Another hour later we were enjoying our first, out of three wine taste in one of the oldest wineries of the region. It was all great views, sunny cool day of spring and while the winery owner was explaining how was it that they would not use any fertilizers, etc, we were lost in the views and in the aroma of the field on the early morning. Our 2nd winery tour was even more impressive since the azienda had taken extremely careful steps in their production in order to conserve nature as protected as possible. This was one other winery on the side of hills where the views were jaw-dropping and their wines no less spectacular. We were four adults and at the end of our included lunch, we couldn’t say if we enjoyed more the wineries or the explanations and conversations we had with our tour guide. Not only she knew from A to Z regarding wines in Spain but she was genuine interested in us to have the best possible time on this whole day expedition to the Ribera del Duero. After several wine tours in Italy and France, I have to admit that this was the most enjoyable of all.
I must sincerely thank Tripadvisor for letting me find them. Thanks a lot Benedicte, O.G.

My fiancee and I did the Ribera del Duero region wine tour in April 2016. It was one of the highlights of our trip! Our guide picked us up right on time and on the way out of the city, gave us tour of some of the sights on Madrid we hadn't seen yet. We stopped for breakfast at a great little place about halfway to the wineries. There were three separate wineries, all completely different with something new to show us. The quality of wine we got to taste was exceptional, and everyone we met with was so friendly! The last stop includes a 10 course meal that could easily be worth the price of the entire tour. Definitely a must do for any wine and food lovers!

My husband, 20 year old daughter, and I had a wonderful day with Benedicte of DeVinus Wine tours in La Mancha in mid-November. Benedicte was a fantastic guide-- knowledgeable, personable, friendly and accommodating to our every need and interest. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience of meeting the wine makers and getting tours of their wineries by them personally-- no large groups, just us, Benedicte, and the wine makers. We learned a ton and got to taste some delicious wines. And then there was the lunch! Don't eat too much of the yummy cheese and local ham at the first winery because an amazing lunch is waiting -- be hungry because you will want to eat everything! A fantastic day, and a wonderful way to see some of the countryside near Madrid, including a summer palace and the beautiful windmills of La Mancha.

Prices vary depending on the tour. The website indicated on the page can direct you to the pages that describe the tours and prices per person.
I'm not sure about 1/2 day tours, as I did a full day tour with friends. You can likely contact DeVinus for further information on those options.
