Ok, people here are being way too whiny and cry baby. It’s not the bus drivers job to be your guide. He has a very busy, dangerous route that requires his full attention. He doesn’t have the time nor the patience to deal with tourist questions. It is your responsibility to know where you’re going and to pay attention and request your stop. If he does not stop and pick you up, the bus is too full and it’s already a serious safety issue with everyone standing and piling on each other. He’s not not stopping to be a jerk. You need to plan ahead and accordingly. If you miss one bus because it is too full, make sure you know the bus schedule to catch the next or maybe even the next after that. It’s not hard. Also, you need to do your research before hand and be prepared. I was not surprised and well aware of the bus situation before I got here. The drivers are very skilled and are too busy keeping your whiny self safe. Ask another traveler on the bus if you need help. Leave the driver be and quit crying about it. This is the only public transport here. You don’t like it, shell out for a taxi and be quiet. The shop keepers have no idea how many people have bought tickets. They just sell them and you can use them anytime. The only thing that freaks me out is the stop buttons are not easy to reach on the bus and the driver today blew past my stop and stopped a little further ahead at another stop. It wasn’t a big deal, I was able to walk back okay. I asked a shop keeper why they might do that so I can have the knowledge next time and he said some of them may not know the town. Who knows.

Just awful. I had a baby and waited outside a bus stop in Amalfi and the bus driver sped right past! I assumed I went to an incorrect stop (I hadnt) and went to the next one where I politely asked Italian a bus driver waiting outside his bus where I stand to catch the bus. He pointed to the opposite side of the road and said he'd collect me there. I waited there and he drove off.
For the 3rd bus attempt, I went down the road to the bus station and forced my way on. When I went to come off the bus with my baby in pram, the bus driver didn't wait for me to fully get off before shutting the door on the pram. It's bonkers.

Also, the buses and infrastructure generally stops early in the evening. Italy is just bonkers and I don't recommend it at all if you have kids.

We planned to go to Positano from Sorrento which we knew would have been about a 30-40 min trip. We ended up on the bus for almost 2 hours all the way to Almalfi! Hope you get a driver that calls out the major stations. Ours didn't. We were on a packed bus way at the back with people crammed up the aisles. We thought we were in Positano, but weren't sure. We had heard many people say they were going to Positano too so we assumed many people would be getting off at a major stop of some sort. The bus stopped on the highway with no signs and only 1 person got off. The bus driver said nothing. So we figured it wasn't ther major stop. It stopped a second time same thing. So we stayed on. Next thing I know we are out of the town with no choice but to ride all the way to Almalfi. I heard one guy start to yell at the bus driver after Positano that he had missed his stop and why didn't he tell the people the stops. The bus driver yelled back that it wasn't his job to tell the people where to go! So frustrated. We left later in the afternoon that day for a short trip to Positano. We didn't arrive into Almalfi until 4:30! Got to spend 2 hours in the drizzling rain only to turn around and take a long, crowded bus home again. Total waste of time and money. We were really looking forward to this trip and now we won't get to go. Sita knows these buses are full of tourists, they need to have signs or drivers that communicate the major stops. The driver on the way home did, but it was no help to us at that point. :(

1) Get there early.
2) Buy your tickets in the ticket office (Sorrento train station has plenty offices, look for the one with SITA SUD). Get the daily ticket (24 hours, 10 Euro per person, unlimited rides on SITA buses). They were also selling these outside the bus, same price. If you are going from another town, they usually sell tickets at tobacco shops/newspaper shops.
3) Get in the queue. Expect it go insanely long after around 10, 11 AM. Expect to go on the second, third, even fourth bus, and if you board too late, you will have to stand all the way. They fill these buses to the top.
4) You might want to skip a bus to be in a better position for the next one, but once you do that, other people get the same idea and this will only make the driver angry so not the best idea.
5) Know where you are going, do your research about the best towns and stops. Googling Amalfi Coast, tons of people post pictures with no descriptions or wrong ones - you think you see photos of Sorrento or Amalfi but in fact they are usually Positano. Also, some sights like Fiordi di Furore or the hidden Valley in Sorrento are currently closed or under reconstruction so not accessible.
6) Positano has two stops, first is for the centre (far away from beach), second for the beach.
7) You can take a picture of timeschedule on Sorrento train station (Info point) or on some bus stops (fermata) or find it online. But generally the buses go every 15 minutes or so throughout the day and they will go whenever. They can't guarantee the times because of the traffic situation.

Oh and don't forget to validate your ticket on the first ride (they will most likely do it for you) and also you should write on the back the current date, your name and date of birth).

And expect the bus ride to take longer than advised because the road to Amalfi is insane, super busy, super narrow, full of honking and curves.

It is an experience, might not be the most pleasant one but honestly, I wouldn't take our rental car there for all the money in the world, not to mention crazy parking situation.

We utilized the SITA line on 03/23 for a round trip from Foggia to San Giovanni Rotondo. We departed Foggia FS at 0930 on Linea 732 and arrived in SGR in just under an hour. We returned on the same line at 1500 and after an hour ride arrived at Foggia FS at 1600. Busses are not the most comfortable but they get you from point A to point B. Tickets were €5/person each way and no toilet facilities on the bus.

No regard for timetable, too few buses for high demand. Waited almost 3 hours for a bus in Salerno to Amalfi.

Unfortunately, the transport on the Sorrento-Amalfi route is the most difficult with the buses, they are many minutes late, they are few and very crowded, the drivers are very good, but you cannot enjoy the beauty of these places without getting angry because of this..

Buses do not travel by the timetable and average waiting time is 2 hours . If buses were not available we would have known to rent a car but its convinient to keep the inneficient buses to boost the taxi business… so much to supporting sustainable tourism and decreasing emissions

I took this bus from Taranto bus terminal to Matera. The bus arrived on time. Bus driver was kind and helpful! These two are important factors for me as a foreign visitor.

Do not use this company. Most busses never show and the ones that do show are terrifying to ride due to dangerous driving.
