My aunts and I booked this class after seeing the sign on the wall at their building in Sorrento. We went in with absolutely 0 expectations and were blown away by the experience. We took two classes: farm experience and gelato making. We were picked up for the farm experience by the Sorrento Hospital (in the city center) and were driven in a little buggy about 15-20 minutes to his farm. We got to enjoy beautiful views along the way. As many others have said the farm is absolutely beautiful, it looks like a movie set. William was very engaging while explaining different plants and tools used. After the tour you start cooking. Note: This is not a hands on cooking class. So you would be disappointed if you wanted your own station to learn and cook. Instead, he demonstrates and has each person assist with a different step. For me, I have enough cooking knowledge that I was happy with that and it allowed for us to have more time to do the tour, tastings, etc. The food itself was delicious! I learned so much during the experience I was running out of room on our paper. After you eat you do a balsamic vinegar tasting which was really interesting to hear about the process. After that you are taken back to the pick up point. I think the experience was about 4 hours total.

The gelato class is in town in the city center. Maria teaches this class and shares a lot of her knowledge and experience. She walks you through sorbetto and gelato and explains each in detail. They were absolutely delicious. We are her #1 fans :) and had such a fun time.

We had such a great time, in fact, that we wanted to get the aprons to remember it by. Maria kindly met us the next morning and dropped them off.

Overall - I really can’t recommend this enough, you will learn a lot, have delicious recipes at the end and a lot of laughs shared along the way. We also got really lucky because our group was so kind and friendly, I wish we all sat at the table together so we could have talked more, but there are two separate tables to eat at and enjoy the sunset.

Now, first things first, the school location in Sorrento was closed (I'm sure covid was a concern) and classes were being held at the family home near Sant'anna. This was a totally different experience than expected, but I felt like it was far better than being in a restaurant. Also, covid rules at the time granted us a private class. So my wife and I were the only ones learning to cook. I have no idea if there was a group option or if there were other options, but our experience was perfect.

Getting to Guglielmo's house was a bit of an adventure. We were truly driving on streets not made for 2 cars and a wedding was going on too. But we made it! Parking would be my only issue because I almost drove down the very narrow lane (I've seen sidewalks bigger! :D ). But, thankfully, cooler heads prevailed and Guglielmo told us to park on the street and he'd pick us up in his Donkey. So heads up if you drove!

Once we arrived, we were given a tour of the farm and some history of his family. An amazing thing anymore, especially for Americans like myself to visit and see a working family farm. We picked a few leafy greens for our Pizza and got to taste a few fruits (though I forget what) before we were brought back to the outdoor kitchen for class.

For class, we were presented with a notebook and chef's apron (which I think I've already lost or forgotten there) and we were given the history of Pizza before making true Napoli pizza margarita, pizza marinara and even some grilled aubergine (eggplant). Then to top off the experience we learned to make gelato and granite.

Then... well we ate the food that we made, of course. Now this made the whole experience worth it, and I hope my pictures tell the whole story. This was romantic and a background to be envious of. Great pizza, amazing gelato, homemade wine!!! what an experience.

Overall, a 3-hour long experience I'll treasure for a long time and look forward to going back for more classes.

We didn't know what to expect with our cooking class as it was booked with our travel agent as part of our honeymoon package. Ended up being the best experience throughout our whole trip! Started with a bit of confusion on where we were suppose to meet but Guglielmo and Maria were so lovely to pick us up from Sorrento to take is to their family farm for a private experience. We started with a tour of the farm and see the kinds of fruits and vegetables they grow and then we proceeded to cook a four course meal. We started with bruschetta, then homemade gnocchi and tomato sauce, and finished with the second course of lemon chicken. For dessert, we had their homemade lemon sorbet. Everything was so delicious and Guglielmo and Maria were so amazing at teaching us how to cook the meal and we were able to write down the recipes to try at home! Guglielmo and Maria are so lovely and passionate about what they do that it really inspired us to shop local products and support local farms/businesses wherever you live/visit.

My wife and I took a hands on cooking class at the Old Taverna Sorrentina in July of 2019. We had a wonderful time! The class was held even though we were the only ones in it.

The class was fantastic! The Chefs were very knowledgeable and very patient with us. We enjoyed the class and it is one of the highlights of the trip. In the class we learned to make pasta; since we have been home I have made it at least a dozen times. Each time I picture the Chef over my shoulder, guiding me. It was so much fun!

The cooking class is a must do if your are in Sorrento!

We did the pizza cooking course with William and Maria. We had a tour of their great farm, understood some of the family history and ancestry. We then learned to make the dough and made various tastes of pizza and calzone’s. Our children, 10 & 12 loved it. Once home, we have made the beautiful Napolitano pizza and reminisced on the wonderful time we had. If we come back to Sorrento, we will be sure to come back for a different class! Grazie mille and much love to the both of you.

We attended William's cooking school at his farm. After being shown around the farm, we made bruschetta, gnocchi, chicken in a tomato sauce. We were also served lemon sorbet (couldn't make tiramisu as it was too hot). Hosts were incredibly friendly and professional. Teaching was to a very high standard. We learnt lots, was a good mix of cooking and eating a delicious 4 course meal in a perfect setting. The terrace area is beautiful. Home made wine and limoncello were spectacular also. The experience exceeded our expectations.

We booked this last minute and it was one of the highlights of our honeymoon. We had a private class with William & his lovely wife, took a tour of his farm and all its produce. We then proceeded to the open air kitchen where we learned skills we will never forget.
Loved every minute. Thank you again.

An amazing experience!! We had so much fun. The class is on a farm, with a great view. The chef show us all his fresh vegetables, herbs, fruit. They also make the wine by himself! It was so fun!
The class is very helpful, we learned a lot. He has a lot of knowledge. We have got all the recipes and tips for Italian cooking.
Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!

My family of six adults (4 in their 20s, and my husband and I in our 50's) attended the Dishes of the Campania region. We learned to make Bruschetta Sorrentina, Gnocchi with a simple tomato sauce, Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken escalope Sorrento-style (tomato mozzarella in white wine sauce) and Tiramisù Italian-style.

The positives were: The food was all very good. The vegetarian was given extra eggplant to compensate for not having chicken. The chef was talented and I learned several new things. We had a lovely meal of what we cooked at little bistro tables outside the restaurant. Fortunately the weather was suitable for outdoor dining.

The negatives were :
The recipes are not provided. The women were given a little book and a pen and had to write like mad while still trying to watch what was going on. I am afraid I missed some important instructions or quantities. I am uncertain if I could ever make the recipes correctly. It seemed quite sexist that the women were required to be the "secretaries", and the men could either watch or take pictures.

The chef would ask questions, but if you guessed the incorrect answer, he would look disapprovingly at you. Instead of being an informative teaching method, you could be left feeling stupid for not knowing. The young adults in the group felt left out since they did not have the experience necessary to answer many of the questions.

The wine provided was very inexpensive, and did not match the quality of the food we were eating.

My daughter has recently lost over 70 pounds. She is still trying to loose a few more pounds, but is very proud of her accomplishment. She is not a cook, and was excited about going to the class. When she was using a pastry bag for the very first time in her life, she unintentionally squeezed out too much filling on her tiramisu. Chef Gargiulo told her in front of the entire group that she took more than normal because she is a big woman. She was crushed by the insult of her weight and felt demoralized by the teaching approach. The comment was unnecessary, hurtful, and put a real damper on what should have been a very enjoyable evening.

We'd thoroughly enjoyed dinner at the Old Taverna Sorrentina, and gelato was next on our list, right next door. We noticed Chef instructing a couple - we could tell they who they were wearing the matching chef hats and aprons. We watched as Chef and this couple were making ravioli from scratch. The aroma was sensational. While enjoying our gelato, we spoke to Chef about the cooking school and we immediately booked our class. Chef asked us what we'd like to learn to cook, and that we'd have 5-6 hours of his undivided attention. When we arrived for cooking school, Chef dressed us in the appropriate hats and aprons and we proceeded to learn. This was hands on instruction, not just watching as someone else does it. We were very much involved - which was great. Our menu consisted of bruschetta, ravioli, tagliatelle & bow-tie pasta, a traditional bolognese, caprese and sorrentina sauce, calamari with potatoes, and for dessert, tiramisu. We learned basic knife skills, and a ton of tips. My wife took notes and I took photos in between cooking. Chef and I even traded tortellini tips. The food was delicious and time flew by so quickly. This was by far the best experience we'd ever had and I would highly recommend this to anyone. This is a family owned and operated restaurant, B&B and gelato shop. Chef and his family are there every day, the gelato is fresh, the seafood is fresh, the food is awesome and they are extremely wonderful hosts. We look forward to seeing Chef and his family again next year.
