Sitting in the Center of the city is this wonderful Piazza. The architecture is grand and the streets surrounding are full of shops and restaurants. I visited on a Saturday and the market with individual vendors was a great strolll to watch

I would say this is the main square in town and it is absolutely beautiful. It is worth picking up an information booklet from the tourist information centre as, along with all the other buildings, it explains the history behind this wonderful Plaza and it is manifold.

It is full of history along with shops, bars and restaurants and even the mini train uses this as the terminal.

Very beautiful and many historic buildings around, it is definitely worth a visit.

Rimini provides many interesting places to enjoy and among them is certainly the Three Martyrs Square (Piazza Tre Martiri). This is supported by his rich history. It is one of the two most important squares in the city, the second is Piazza Cavour. The Piazza Tre Martiri is located in the former Roman Forum, where Julius Cesar gave a famous speech to his legions when he crossed the Rubicon River ( To commemorate this act set small and seemingly inconspicuous Pole or Column of Julius Caesar (La Colonna di Giulio Cesare). The history of the square dates back to 200 years BC. In the middle ages the area was known as "piazza delle Erbe" and was the site of the market, as well as knightly tournaments. Throughout its history, the square has changed several names, including named area of Julius Caesar. Named "Tre Martiri", which translated from Italian means Three of the Martyr, the area received only after the Second world war, as a reminder of the murder of three young partisans who were executed in this square on August 16, 1944 (Mario Cappelli, Luigi Nicolò, Adelio Pagliarani). On the Square today dominates the Clock Tower. It was built in 16th century. And around it was later incorporated the 17th century Brioli Palace (Palazzo Brioli). A little further on the square is the small octagonal chapel of Sant'Antonio (Tempietto di Sant'Antonio), built in the 16th century, and after the earthquake of 1672, rebuilt in the Baroque style. The chapel adjoins the Church of San Francesco dei Paoletti or St. Francis of Paolo (Chiesa Dei Paolotti), and which further emphasize the Sanctuary of Sant'Antonio. Together, the chapel and the Church form a single ensemble and harmoniously fit into the overall picture Piazza Tre Martiri. On the North side of the square is the bronze monument of the Roman General and politicians of Julius Caesar (Statua di Giulio Cesare). As we said earlier this is an extremely interesting square. We did not forget to enjoy gastronomy at the surrounding restaurants and bars. So we visited Antica Caffetteria's Restaurant-Bar. We were extremely pleased with the atmosphere and service. Nice experience.

Piazza Tre Martiri is Rimini’s historical place; it witnessed major political events since the year 268 BC. Have a sit in one of the cafes and enjoy the refined buildings; some of them are adorned with pretty flowers.

Look for a marble plinth and the statue of Julius Caesar. It was here where Julius Caesar addressed to his soldiers prior to the conquest of Rome with the famous phrase "The Die is Cast" after crossing the river Rubicon in 49 BC.

The clock tower was built in the middle of 16th century and then rebuilt in the 1700s. It has two clock-faces: one is the traditional type and the other indicates days and months.

During the World War II three young partisans were executed here. The square’s present name honours their heroic death.

From here, take Via IV November; a minute walk and you get to the Rimini’s most prized monument, Tempio Malatestiano.

This square is in the heart of the historic centre of Rimini. Explore the buildings, such as the clock tower, the statue of Julius Caesar, and the spot where Julius Caesar gave his speech after crossing the Rubicon.

This Piazza, long a center of the city, is currently named for 3 resistance fighters who were hanged here on August 16, 1944 in what was then Piazza Giulio Cesare. 2 plaques commemorate this event. One is on the corner of the Piazza and Via IV Novembre and the other is in the paving stone where the gallows stood. In Roman times, this square was the forum for Ariminum from 268BC. There are a wide variety of shops and restaurants around the Piazza. A great place to people watch.

This square is very close to Piazza Cavour and you can't miss it. It is wider, more modern and more joyful. There is an interesting restaurant lot of charming shops.
On this square you may see the statue of Caesar and close to this square is The Arch of Augustus.

This is the better piazza of the two in Rimini, the architecture is nicer, there is more going on and better things to see
Can imagine it being great in the evening or if there is a market day or open air concert or something. The start of the shopping area really too, you can do a loop and see most of the good parts of the city easily.

Nice when you are in Rimini to experience a little of "Italy" as well. Here you have a really nice piazza. Shops and cafes, a pleasant place to visit for a coffee if you are tired of "beachlife"
