We purchased tickets (48 hour) for this attraction online before we arrived in Florence. Had been told by our daughters who used this service in 2006 to take Line B....best tour by far they said. Had a current brochure for this attraction from the hotel, and it told us where to meet to catch the Line B bus and the schedule. Took a taxi to the designated area, got there 1/2 hour early...then waited over an hour and NO bus. Found another Hop On Hop Off location, caught a bus that eventually came along, but it was Line A, not the B we had wanted. We were told by the attendant that they no longer stopped at the designated spot we had spent an hour and a half waiting at....would be nice if they spent a few bucks and printed up new brochures w/o this spot listed as the meeting point for Line B. Said there were no more Line B tours that day, so we could catch it the next day from the same place we caught this bus. Okay...another long story....we went back to the same spot which was in front of a McDonald's and waited and waited....no Line B or Line A bus came along. We saw a Hop On, Hop Off bus leaving about two blocks down the street, and ran down to that location and knew we had missed the Line B again. When a Line A came along to that location, it was the same attendant as the day before. We complained that we had waited to catch the bus where we had picked it up the day before, and where she told us we could catch the Line B. We were then informed that they only stop in front of McDonald's if there is a shift change, which there had been the day before, we noticed they switched drivers and the driver got off and went into McDonald's. Okay, so we're S.O.L. on Line B....they run twice a day, we take the Line A bus again and see the same crappy joke of a tour that we saw the day before. You are much better off walking, we saw all of the sites just by walking around Florence that we saw from their bus. Both days, my earphone connection did not work....What a waste of time and money! They have no real schedule or meeting place. They do as they please, and don't really care if they please their customers or not. Didn't want to hop off, as we figured no bus would ever come back along to pick us up. We have done Hop On, Hop Off busses in many cities, always had good luck....not the case here or in Rome. There are many other companies that offer these services....pick any of them, but this one, none could be worse than City Sightseeing Firenze Hop On Hop Off! Another thing...they say the price of the bus includes all these attractions that they pass....these attractions are all free to the public anyway.

Don't get me wrong, we really enjoyed the tour and find the bus tours the best way of exploring a city when you arrive, but we were left feeling a little disappointed with this tour. There was a lot of time on board when there was either music playing our there was silence on the audio tour and you can't help but think that surely there's more to say about this lovely city. There's 3 routes but they seem to cover a lot of the same ground and two of them are infrequent - every hour. We went for a 2 day ticket as it was only 5 euros more than the one day ticket.

A great way to get around Florence if you are there (like I was) for a whirlwind visit. It was impressive that they have three 'different' routes (admittedly there is a considerable amount of overlap) and that the buses run until 9/10pm?

The routes take you round all the important sights and some of the views you get in the surrounding hills of Florence itself are spectacular!

Spending 10 weeks in Florence this summer and resisted this tour from the start. I finally took the tour (2 days) after being here 6 weeks and am truly sorry that I didn't do it in the first week or two. It really does enable you to see the entire city and beyond. The greatest part is that it is an on-off trip which enables you to stop and see whatever sights you like, or to stop for lunch, aperitivo, or shopping and get back on a another bus a short while later. Cautionary note.....if sitting upstairs on the curb side seat, watch out for branches!!!! This is a great trip to see both Piazzale Michalangelo and Fiesole.

We use the hop on/hop off bus in every city we visit in order to get a better feel of the area. We only had one day in Florence so we wanted to maximize our time spent there. I bought my tickets online before leaving for Italy and got a 10% off since I had also bought tickets for the Rome tour. The Ho/Ho in Florence is a bit different because of the lay out of the city. Most major attractions are in an area reserved for pedestrians only, so the bus cannot get close at all. Since we had already done the walking tour of Florence, we appreciated seeing the outskirts of the city way up to Fiesole for a magnificent view of Florence. It was different, but we still enjoyed it very much.

This company scammed us and some German tourists too. We bought the 20 Euro tickets on Friday, May 31st. After getting off at stop #6 on the Line A (Santa Croce), we returned to the stop at 5:20pm and waited over 45 minutes. Two or three Line A buses should have come to that stop in that time, since they are supposed to stop every 15 minutes, and the last stop was supposed to be at 6:18pm. After no success there, we crossed the river and waited for the red line (Line B), at stop #10, which comes every hour. Two German tourists were waiting there before we arrived. The 6:34pm bus never came. Stop #17 for the yellow line (Line C) was across the street. That bus was supposed to come at 6:53pm and it never came either!

We called the company multiple times and they never answered the phone. We sent the company an email and they did not reply. At 7:15pm we gave up. Don't use this company - you have no recourse if you pay cash and they decide not to run the last few buses of the day!

We were waiting at the right stops, as evidenced by the company's signs with the final pick up times.

We have taken the hop-on hop-off our first day in many many cities, and are almost always happy with it, despite the uncomfortable earbuds, faulty audio, etc.

This is the only place where we were truly disappointed. We realized that most of the interesting attractions are not accessible by bus, and that the sites are close enough that you can walk everywhere, but still thought we would learn something from the trip. We were wrong. The explanations were trivial and uninteresting, and many of the stops seemed to be inserted to fill up the trip.

In Florence there are 2 lines with 90% overlap between them (except for traveling in opposite directions). We visited in winter, and so Line A was once an hour, and line B only three times a day. Line A (blue line) has 17 stops, and you can transfer to Line B (red line) and Piazalla Michelangelo. However if you want to take a short stop somewhere you have to wait close to an hour for the next blue bus, and red bus stops not on the blue line are useful for stops.

The only truly additional feature of the red line is the trip to Fiesola. However, there is a 15 minutes stop there with no explanation, and it is not even timed with the local establishments - so you can't even buy a gelato or a coffee.

So, the lines save you climbing the stairs to Piazalla Michelangelo and can bring you to Santa Croce, but that's about all.

In short, skip it!

If you are giving to scammers here’s the right one for you. Another fluke that I’m not willing to take next time. We took this hop on hop off bus to get around. We stopped at the Boboli Gardens on the other side of the main city never knowing it was our first and last stop for the rest of day with the bus. When we got out from the museum, we waited for the bus for 30 minutes but never came. We thought we got there early at the stop as posted 2:09 pm as we were there. After the long wait and missing out on our other activities we had no choice but to walk back to the Duomo. Guides at the main stop at via fueme were rude and really got attitudes. Company’s policy sorry for the inconvenience but we’re not going to compensate you. Surely a waste of money and time... never again.

Awful customer service! I traveled to Florence solo. I'm in my 50s. I purchased a 1 day pass for the sight seeing hop on off bus. When I paid I never got a ticket, only a reciet. I got on went along and got off after a few stops. I walked around for a couple of hours in that area. I then got back on the bus. When I got on the staff asked me for my ticket. (I say staff because the girl wouldnt give me her name) I gave her my receipt as thats the only thing they gave me. She said NO I need your ticket!! I explained I never got a ticket only a reciet. She said that is impossible!! And I need to look for my ticket! This went on and on as the bus was driving along all the stops she was on the phone trying to figure out who sold me my ticket. Also asking me what the girl looked like. Over and over she told me to look for my ticket, I told her I never got one!! She told me i would have to buy a new ticket or get off the bus! Wow!! Of course I wouldn't buy another ticket, I just bought that one!! She said I must get off!! I didn't even know where I was!! She was awful to me!! Obviously she could see my receipt that I paid with a credit card just a few hours ago!! So rude and embarrassing!! So I paid hardly rode anywhere and got kicked off the bus! I would stay far away from this company!! RIP OFF

I've done a few tours in different places with this company and have generally been pleased.

Firstly; Florence is easily do-able on foot. The bus tour's not worth the money. (Admittedly, I should have done more research!)

My biggest problem however was the staff, everyone that I encountered was rude and unfriendly. And on the last day of my 48 hour ticket I wanted to use the bus to do a 10 minute journey to the hill to avoid the climb in the heat. When I waited at the bus stop, my ticket had 40 minutes left on it. The bus was so late (they have timetables on the bus stop) that by the time it got there I had only 5 minutes left until 'expiry'. The surly staff member refused to let me on, despite the fact that they bus was late. It was ridiculous and unnecessarily being a jobsworth! The bus was not full and I only wanted to be on it for 10 minutes. Considering the cost of the ticket I think the lack of flexibility showed a disregard for customer service and has really put me off using the company in the future.

Use your feet, or a taxi to get the high bits of the City if your back/legs can't manage it. But don't bother with City Tours in Florence.
