Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea is located in the old town of Sant Gimignano, a wonderful medieval town in Tuscany Region, in the center of Italy. It is a little museum, where you can see some Contemporary art works like photographies, statues, paintings and. some others. It is very nice. Also, from the museum, you can see great views of the central towers of Sam Gimignano, and only for this reason, you should visit this place.

I spent maybe an hour here. There were several interesting and attractive works of art, along with many others which were too "modern" for my taste. Not a must-see, but worth a visit if you have time and energy to spare.

Having climbed the tower, our ticket was also good for the modern and comtemporary art museum. I'm sure there are many wonderful reviews already on TripAdvisor about this museum, so my review is to draw attention to one thing only - a photo exhibition that is currently running there (20 September 2015 - 6 January 2016).
The photographer in question is Franco Fontana; an Italian photographer best known for his abstract colour landscapes. Just by chance, the man was there himself on the day we visited as it was the opening day of the exhibition. I have to admit, I wasn't aware of his work prior to that but certainly felt compelled to view it while visiting the museum.
He has an amazing eye for detail and helps you see everyday things with a fresh outlook. If you happen to be visiting San Gimignano in the time that the exhibition is still running, I'd highly reccommend viewing it (if you like viewing photographers' work of course).

I am not a fan of very modern art but this museum was included in the price of the Torre Grossa , which is the tower and small museum next to the Duomo. The Modern Art Museum is a short distance away.
The day we visited there was a exhibition of photographs by Manray.
The archaeological Museum is also here and there is a lovely outside area.

Man Ray exhibition a bonus. Worth going just for the juxtaposition of "pointless" concepts vs medieval iron and stone.

Centrally located and a welcome calm oasis in the business of touristy San Gimignano, this is definitely worth a visit. Free entrance and varying exhibitions.

...Tuscany is the place for you. If you want to look at contemporary work there is probably no better place in the region than this gallery. Obviously I couldn't take photos but the memory of this extraordinary place and some of the work we saw will stay with me for a long time.

Nicely laid out Museum. Plenty of room to view art by I assume mainly local artists. Nothing to dislike.

The entrance to the gallery is included in the ticket for the Torre Grosa so you may as well visit it. Although I found few pieces to be of interest, if was nice to see some contemporary art for a change. Staff seemed eager to give basic information of the displays.

THis museum had a great historical collection of artifacts found locally in the ancient city, as well as a beautiful collection of modern art, including a photography exhibit that was very inspiring. The second floor also reveals some great peekaboo views of the tuscan valley and the rest of the city. Worth a look for any art enthusiasts, lots to see for every taste
