We did this walk/hike on our 1 day cruise port stop in Trondheim ( HAL MS Koningsdam )..We spent an absolutely glorious day in Bymarca- in the hills & forests 20 minutes out of the city. Our guide, Steffen was amazing- he picked us up at the port & delivered us back to the ship after 7 hours. We hiked through the countryside ( easy hike ) learning about Norway, Trondheim & nature- about the plants, birds, history medicinal herbs etc.., We picked ripe berries to eat, the views were spectacular, Steffen made us a tasty lunch over a wood fire in the open, by a lake, including a YUMMY Norwegian desert ( cooked on the fire )- it was a truly glorious day with an outstanding knowledgeable guide. we'll remember this day always- it was really special. We would highly recommend this tour, especially if you are in Trondheim for a day on a port visit with a cruise. You will never experience anything like it again.

Mark, my Scottish guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and generous during our tour of Lian Lake and the Trondheim forest. Nature Tours is a cut above your average hiking experience, in that they seek to provide you with an authentic, Norwegian interpretation of nature. You learn about bushcraft, ancient Sami culture, flora and fauna, indigenous wildlife, and an abundance of local tips for town touring. Most tourists never make it up to Lian Lake. It's just far enough removed from downtown to be a very pure walk through the Norwegian woods. And plucking plant leaves to make authentic Norwegian tea was the icing on the cake. We made fire via old Sami-culture methods and put a kettle on at the lake's edge. We walked through a rarely-seen moss meadow, which is a thing unto itself. The moss is incredibly springy and cushioned, like walking on the moon. The tram ride to the top is remarkable in itself. It's the northern-most tram in the world. And you get great views of the city as you ascend. If I'm ever back in Trondheim, this is an easy choice. Do it! Tusend tak Mark!

Booked a walking tour a week before we arrived, they were able to work a tour around our days and time and was easy to organise.
took the tram from the city up into the hills, had some great views of the city covered in snow then walked through the forest to a cabin for tea and cake which all the local skiers were using. We could walk at our own pace and stop when ever we liked for photos. Great day out in the Forrest in the snow.

We went on the day tour into the forest with Mark, and it exceeded our expectations in every way! He took us to a high point in the forest and took amazing photos for us. My friend is uneasy on ice, so he changed the walk to suit our abilities. We then went into the forest and he showed us how to start a proper Norwegian camp fire with tea made from trees! I originally dragged my friend along on this because I'm a nature lover, but she absolutely loved it and said it was the highlight of her trip. Mark was so fun and informative, and would not hesitate to do the tour again!

I had a very nice experience and a very enjoyable time. I have been provided with a lot of information and knowledge about the nature. Unfortunately it was not possible to see the northern light because the weather was cloudy. Exploring the forest was one of the most interesting activity we have done.
Special thanks to Mark (Tour guide)

We were with 3 friends and booked an overnight trip at Nature Tours. It was a great experience!! We walked to a beautiful spot where we builded our camp. We had a wonderful view from te place where we had a campfire. Mark teached us quiet a lot about making a fire, building a night-shelter etc. We made a lovely dinner on the campfire, saw the northernlight, slept in the open-air and drunk fresh water from a brook. Thank you Mark for a great time!

As a visual artist doing a residence in Trondheim, the tour was a great way to discover the forested landscape within a short distance from the city. I am interested how communities create a sense of identity with their local forest. Mark's connection to this place, its ecology, its landmarks, its people, is rich in knowledge and local anecdotes. This tour is a very personable way to be immersed in nature for a morning or an afternoon and learn about other means of access on your own, for another day.

There's no better way to spend a sunny day in Trondheim than in one of its surrounding forests and Nature Tours proved to make the experience truly unforgettable. After taking us to one of the hilltops from which the entire city can be seen, our guide Mark helped us discover the Norwegians' love for the outdoors. We stopped on our way to pick the ingredients for the herbal tea we would later cook, to take photos of different animals and to learn about plants and mushrooms. Equally entertaining for both a two year boy as well as for experienced hikers, our guide taught us how to light a fire without using a lighter and how to make perfect waffles on the campfire (a special treat for the kid). Highly recommendable, if you'd like to spend a great day out in the open and get to know more about the local flora, fauna and customs, Nature Tours is a logical choice.

We arrived Trondheim on 2-Sept-2015 at about 7 o'clock in the morning. After a warm early check-in in Radisson Blu, we had a breakfast in a quiet and styled cafe. Then we walked to the tourist center and would like to search some information. We asked the counter officer about the hiking and natural seeings in Trondheim. At that time, we met Mark. Mark told us that he would be going to leave to Lian soon. So why not join together!

It was really not disappointing. Mark guided us to the Sweden forest, to pick berries and leaves along to make our own 100% natural food tea. We tried lighting the fire to the bark. Throughout the journey, we had seen some magnificent views. Mark also introduced a lot of Norway cultures and customs to us along.

Excellent!
