An interesting building with lovely extensive grounds. Lovely views from top of hill. Easy walk up slight incline. Perfect to walk the dog. House ok but nothing of note. The family still live there and I was shown around by one of them. Think she might have been a headmistress! No tea rooms but the village hall usually do teas which are very good. Much cheaper than NT

We loved our visit here at the weekend. My husband and I came with our baby and were made to feel so welcome. It was lovely weather so we enjoyed a walk up to the monument and a great time in the house. So grateful to the Farnborough Hall team who looked after our son so we could make the most of the houses too. We'll be back!

Farnborough Hall is open on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons with the National Trust.
Clearly this property is still a private home, but I guess they are funding the property with this agreement with the National Trust.

As a member, its ok to go and visit, but if I was a normal member of the public I would feel ripped off to pay £6.10 to see 3 rooms and a staircase. Yep thats all you see. 3 downstairs rooms, which clearly have current occupiers private items in and a staircase that you cannot go into any rooms off of.

Garden nothing special. If in the area and a member ok, but do not make a special trip you will be disappointed. Much better NT properties to see.

The family still live there and don't want strangers walking around their property. About 80% is private, cant take pictures, many rules to follow and only 3 rooms to see. Visitors are just an annoyance to the family but they need our money because of death duties so have to let us in. Only open 2 afternoons a week and was asked to leave the room as we were literally 90 seconds early! Don't give them the satisfaction.

We are sorry to hear about your disappointment after your recent visit to Farnborough Hall but a few points must be clarified in your review. The gardens are open to the public as well as half of the house - the parts that are private are the offices, kitchen and bedrooms etc that are not of particular interest to see. All of the historical and unique rooms are open as per the opening times for most of the year starting in the spring and closing for the winter months - the time when the gardens and house look their best. Due to the nature of some of the items that are on show in the house, photography is not permitted. The guides are extremely knowledgable on all of the rooms and on the gardens so we are sorry if you had a bad experience but invite you to return to see this wonderful property again soon.

Travelled 100 miles to have access to 3 rooms and no photos allowed! Very disappointed, perhaps if the family don’t truly want visitors to see their home and its history, then perhaps close the doors.

Farnborough Hall was a total let down for us, not much to see at all, 3 rooms and a staircase. Come to Banbury for Upton House which is excellent, but do not travel a great distance for Farnborough.

Sunday 1 May 16, We went o visit Farnborough Hall, at Farnborough, near Banbury which is administered by the National Trust.

My husband and I first visited here over 30 years ago, when Lady Elizabeth Holbech used to take visitors round with her two dogs trailing behind. Lady Elizabeth was a very chatty and epicurean lady who loved to talk about her home. At the time I worked in an antiquarian bookshop which I mentioned to her, and she even took the time to show me her wonderful collection of ‘Gould’s Birds’ leather bound books. The house had a lovely lived in feel and was very light and airy.

Today Farnborough Hall is still a honey-coloured stone house occupied and lived in by the Holbech family. The house has not changed and still has a lovely entrance hall, dining room, sitting room and library filled with treasures collected during The Grand Tour and a Grand Staircase with a interesting glass cupola along with over 32 marble busts of Emperors and Empresses’ as well as the classical gods and goddesses’.

Outside there are lovely landscaped gardens overlooking panoramic parkland. We strolled round the gardens and looked at the ice house, which needed some renovation, the rose garden, the miniature yew maze and walked down to the cascade (which is under repair at this present time). We left here at 4.30pm and went down into Farnborough village for refreshments, as there is no tearoom at the hall.

We are National Trust members so didn't have to pay but they let you see so little of the house is it worth it opening? I emailed the church direct as it's not NT and they were good enough to open it up but it's not always open.

Came here on the way home from another property. If you aren't an NT member you should know it costs £6.50 each and you only get to go in three rooms and there property is only open occasionally. The grounds are quite pleasant to walk around but don't take long. As NT members we enjoyed our visit but won't be visiting again as there wasn't much to see!

Went to this NT property today. Only open 2-5.30 wed and sat....why so limited...??? Only 3 rooms plus staircase are open....?? ...why so limited..??? The family seem to rule the roost with these severe limitations.....some saving grace due to grand views over lovely countryside nb..No facilities for disabled or elderly.
