An amazing course, child friendly, relaxed atmosphere and set in a beautiful spot and glorious countryside/villages. Well worth a day out. Best book one of the restaurants if you want food if not take a picnic

5euro entrance fee. One enclosure. Excellent viewing from stands. 30min walk from Deauville and we'll sign posted. Beer 5 euros. Champagne 30 euro a bottle. 2 restaurants. Mixture of flat and jump racing.

I love my racing and go a lot, probably more than 50 different courses worldwide. Visited Deauville earlier in the week and decided to snatch a few races at Clairfontaine before heading to the airport. Fabulous. The quality of racing may not be Cheltenham, Sandown, Longchamp or Meydan, but the scenery and outside public areas are stunning, it made my week away. I have long believed the French cater far better for the public race goer than the Uk, making it a family occasion, lots for little ones to do and enjoy, all for free, and only 5 euro to get in. I'll be back for a proper visit.

It was my first experience in a horse racing place. Clairefontaine is beautiful and the entry is only 5 euros. There is a wonderful family friendly atmosphere and very professional staff.

Deauville has several horse racing meeting each year. there are two course in Deauville , Clairefontaine and Touques. They are both very good. Clairefontaine is beautiful and the price of entry is only 5 euros. The racing is good and the course excellent. The Mumm Champagne stand sells glasses of this lovely stuff for 5 euros. There is a wonderful family friendly atmosphere and very helpful staff. Touques is another great course, not quite so pretty as Clairefontaine but plenty of space and a restaurant where the meals we had were excellent and not expensive. On big race days when very well known horses are running the entry price is only 8 euros.

Always one of our must visits when we have visitors. There is something for everyone to enjoy. From the stunning flower arrangements, the free children's activities, the posh and not so posh eateries and of course, the racing. At 5€ to get in and betting at 2€ a throw it is a very cheap day out and of course you may come out having made a profit. We didn't. The town itself is worth a look or we travelled a bit further to another of our favourite places, Hornfleur.

Fantastic trotting track just out side of Deauville.
Take picnic and wine, and enjoy a superb day out at the races.

Declaration of Cluelessness: I've never been to the races before so this is a first for me and the family.
Impressions:
Lovely place, smart-looking, clean, well-maintained. Lovely flowers everywhere. There's a modest admission charge of €5 per person but once you're in you don't *have* to spend any more (but see below!)
Great seating/standing spaces, plenty of room, wonderful atmosphere.
Betting is easy and cheap - well I mean don't bet crazy sums, but we stuck to little €2 flutters and not TOO many of them, and still went home with our own shirts on etc.
Note: betting on a horse with the same name as your dog may not be a fully rational strategy. But hey.
Nice bars, restaurants, loos etc. We didn't try the restaurants as we'd brought a picnic but they looked good. Coffees and beers all readily available and delicious, and I think there were ice creams available too.
There were temporary stalls in tents, promoting local goods, produce, a few horsey sculptures even.
The racing was fantastic! I really enjoyed it and found it exciting and impressive. We'd taken binoculars but, whilst they are perhaps useful to experts, we'd have been fine without them as the video coverage on the large screen is so good. Then once they're nearly at the finish - well it's right in front of you and it's quite a spectacle.
Summary: a fantastic family outing.

Absolutely delightful racecourse, more relaxed and less crowded than the main Deauville course and beautifully maintained with pretty flower displays everywhere. Mixed flat (turf) and jumping races. Only 5 Euros admission price. Plenty of games, rides etc for children. Must mention the excellent souvenir shop with mementoes of the racecourse and its history, and staffed by an assistant far more helpful than the France Galop shop at the posher Deauville course.

We were there during the British Days early July. This racing event includes galop races, but also some kind of steeple chase racing (do not remember the exact name) which we had never seen. The entire event is a nice experience, especially if you have never seen life horse races (and betting) before.
During those days there were also some activities for children like pony rides, a "jumping castle", pick-nick possibilities, etc..
Also the betting is fun. You can start bets at 2 euros per race and this is a good way to learn terminologie, etc...
All by all good fun for a day of entertainment.

does anyone know where the entrances are?

There are 2 entrances but not on the main road from Deauville to Benerville. There is a road that loops around the park area, shortest walk is from Benerville side
