This 18th century palace is a wonderful find. They offer a free audio guide which is incredibly interesting. The ground floor is charming, with amazing features while the upstairs is phenomenal, with impressive decorative and architectural aspects. Not to be missed!

We recently had five days in Faenza and visited this lovely museum.
Hidden in the back streets behind an unobtrusive facade lies a palace richly decorated and a wonder to behold.
There is not a lot of furniture but this enables you in many ways to just focus on the lavish design and architecture of each room.
Many of the rooms are large with ornate curved ceilings and frescos.
The materials are lavish and very colourful. The chandeliers magnificent. The ceilings beautifully painted recording historic themes.
The visitor can hire, free of charge, a recorder that will give details of each room as you tour. It is not very extensive, but it will give you a good idea of the opulence that many Italians lived with in years gone by.
Well worth a visit....

When visiting Faenza you won't expect a building with neoclassical interiors. We went there with my english speaking teenage niece and she could enjoy the visit thanks to audioguide in her language. If you have time, it's a place not to miss. Faenza is mostly famous for its ceramics production ( ceramics museum, too) but I highly suggest this visit as well. Don't forget to visit the "cottage" nearby. You should ask for the key at the cafè on the back. The garden where it's set, in the past, belonged to Palazzo Milzetti but now it's in a sort of private association cafè. Walk thru freely, they are very polite and ready to hand out the key. Few steps and you can unlock the door yourself and have a look of this unusual spot.

Palazzo Milzetti was by far my favorite part of my trip.

Tickets cost only 4 euros, and you're given an audio tour for free. The audio tour is clear and concise, providing history about the palace, and all the different rooms.

The palace's designs featured ideas and thoughts inspired by things like the zodiac signs, troy, greek mythology, etc ...

The rooms mostly had the real furniture and they were in very good condition. The kitchen was a bit creepy, but also really cool. It was located in the basement, with some passages/doors covered by curtains, as visitors can't enter them, and the kitchen walls were cold.

Overall, I loved my experience in the castle and the amount of effort that was put to create such a place such a long time ago!

Beautiful experience of art in a palace of the past.
There is a lift; making it accessible.
Great examples of living the rich life centuries ago.
Don’t miss the bath in the corner!

The palace is wonderful, elegant. The building was remodelled several times, but what you see today it is beautiful. The decoration of the rooms are brilliant. A must see if you are in the city.

We got the audio tour as part of the very inexpensive ticket. There are many more rooms besides the ones you can visit. Very interesting history and one of the first bathrooms in the area. We stopped on our way to Bologna and I am glad we did so.

this was a complete surprise. This is a very elegant palace right in town. Mostly remodeled about 1800 to 1810. There is a private bathtub off one of the early bedroom chambers. The furniture in the halls is impressive and the spit in the kitchen is ingenious.

Interesting to find a celebrated town in Italy where fame or renown comes not from its 15th century cathedral, medieval palazzos or vast picture galleries of 13th-14th century paintings and sculptures, but from the production of a certain type of white-glazed ceramic called faienze.. Add to this the realisation that Faenza has been doing this since the 12th century and it was responsible for us, at short notice, to visit some of the workshops and a school of fine art where we witnessed stages of modelling vases and the preparation of colours. The industry is well spread all over Emilia-Romagna but it all started in Faenza due to its rich clay suitable for forming and baking.

We trawled, amazed, through the Museum of Ceramics, home to one of the largest collections in the world, displaying works from the Middle Ages through to the 19th century with a private bequest that netted the establishment 960 Maiolica plates and vases, donated by a passionate scholar and art historian to whom we are pen this ode today.

The museum took us through the different periods of Faience, from the archaic, floral and Berttino styles, to the white-blue glaze of 18th century Chinoiserie. Regretfully we lacked the time to do an in-depth study of the 50,000 volumes detailing the history of Faience in the museum library. Maybe next visit?...... my femme cocks a credulent eye-brow movement in my direction. Enough said!

fantastic architecture and decoration, it's a piece of Paris on the via Emilia. The palace is very well kept, extremely beautiful. It's a real pity that II is so little known and that there were no visitors. Each room is a surprise, very different from a lot of other 'palaces' in the region. You will not regret a visit....
