    Fascinating house through time
Really fascinating story about the family and what they found. The house is amazing and tells a story through time from before Christ to modern day. It is possible to explore the areas under ground and then go on the roof to see the roof top view. Would recommend

    Unmissable!
Without a doubt this is the most interesting museum in Lecce and you should not miss the chance to visit it. At only €5 per person it is incredible value for money. From the moment we arrived we were engaged by the host and after his excellent introduction - it's an amazing story - we were able to proceed inspecting the rest ourselves.

    Not to be missed......
This museum is quirky & quite different from any other museum. The story of how it came about is as fascinating as the building & artefacts it contains. Entry is 5 euros & this is definitely the best 5 euros you'll spend in Lecce. Don't miss it!

    Utterly enthralling.
Absolutely fascinating. Do make some time to spend some time here when visiting Lecce. You won't regret it. The museum is family run so, if you are lucky like we were, you will meet at least one of the Faggiano brothers and hear the story first hand. You couldn't make it up. We were both so enthralled we forgot to take any photos. Worth noting that this would not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility.

Immerse yourself in 2,500 years of history
I agree with the previous reviewers that this museum is very much worth a visit. Unlike other museums that display artifacts in cases, the museum itself is the show. It is a labyrinth of cisterns, graves, secret passageways, wells, grain storage. A visitor is immersed in the features that the family uncovered with all the twists and turns that 2,500 years of occupation produce. And the story of the family’s decision to create the museum is so inspiring and so worth of support.

If you are in Lecce, don’t miss this absolute gem of a museum. The story of the discovery of millennia of history during a search for a leaky pipe. The museum is run by the faggiono family who were wonderful hosts telling us the story of their discoveries.

What a fascinating story of the discovery that led to this small family run museum. Easy to visit, hard to find as it is not well advertised. We were told the story by one of the brothers that dug and we were lucky to meet his father, who started it all by just wanting to open a restaurant. This was my highlight of Lecce!

The private museum tells the 2000-years of history of Southern Italy. The artifacts and the underground chambers were well-preserved, vividly revealing the underlying past stories.

One of the family members, Andrea was remarkably friendly. We had a long, nice chit chat after the visiting the museum. Andrea recommended me some of the typical food of Lecce. The Faggiano family was a living proof of the friendliness of Southern Italians.

Traveling with a tour group, one gets to have a private tour with the son of the owner. Sweet young man who speaks English well. Fascinating building and a "must see" when in Lecce. The amount of history in this building is astounding. Most of the artifacts were taken by the Italian government, but so many are still in the house. The house became a museum when the family wanted to do repairs on the building to make it a restaurant, but when they found the artifacts, they made a private museum. Our private tour was topped off with a concert of "pizzica pizzica" music (tarantella) and dancing. Then, a treat of focaccia and wine. But, I am not sure that happens when visiting here on your own. Be prepared to go up and down narrow steps

My wife in I were wrapping up another 3 week trip to Europe and found this museum in a list of 15 things to do in Lecce. We would put it among the top 5! The back story on this place is a fellow (about 30 years ago) had bought the building in hopes of setting up a cafe or restaurant. There was a problem with a broken pipe affecting a toilet. When he started digging he found an underground history going back thousands of years. The museum takes you through some underground areas where you view a cistern, body drying area, storage areas, escape tunnel entrances, etc. At €5 each it was a great value. The “read as you go” handout was very informative as well. We really enjoyed this one.
