This "babylonian-style" building, well kept and squeaky clean, if with some humid patches in the walls, looks gorgeous and even artistically interesting, I guess.
Staff is attentive and professional.
We tried the non-medical, wellness-focused spa. The pools were small, if nicely arranged, and very crowded. The "Roman-style" warm-hot-cold water rooms are basic and quite limited.
A sauna is sorely missing, and Turkish bath is a premium option we skipped.

My husband had his first pedicure at the Centro Benessere - and thoroughly enjoyed it.
While I waited I enjoyed a calm time in the Bar with a book and a coffee. The building itself is well worth a visit with its beautiful art on the walls inside and out. There are guided tours, but not on the day we were there.

Get a guided your, but save yourself the money for a bath/thermae visit. Although you can pay a lot of money for this, in fact it is not really functioning as a bath. It is more like a old palazzo. One that is in dire need of restauration. Consider it as such. If you want thermae/sauna/bath, go somewhere else.

We decided to come to Salsomaggiore Terme due to thermal spas. We were a bit dissapointed due to really high prices for what they offer so we spent one sfternoon in the Centro Benessere Barzieri. With 25% hotel discount we payed 30eur per person for Mari D'Oriente (really good and interesting concept of pools with hydro massagges) & Aria /Acqua (dissapointment apart from showers). You may stay as much as xou want but after a while it is boring. Building itself is outside architectural jewl (I would say golden 1920's), but inside I suppose that is too expencive to keep it as lovely as it used to be so you see devastation elements ( leackage roofs etc). Somehow it is sad and not worth the money you have to pay.

The Terme Berziere with its Centro Benessere is an unusual place. On the one hand, the building itself is a marvel of architecure and it is totally amazing that you can find many historic items of equipements in its spa. On the other hand, the spa does not offer what you expect nowadays from a spa at € 40.00. The building is so huge that you literally get lost and the pool area and the sauna area are in opposite corners of the building. The sauna area disappoints with its strangly low temperatures and its bad shape ("porca Italia" in the words of a fellow guest). The pool area was added recently to the historic builiding, but it does not offer anything special and it is also starting to be in bad shape.
