An amazing market to visit in December! I have wanted to visit a Christmas market in Germany for years. This was the first one I was able to attend and as I walked up the street to it, a light snow began falling which ended up being the perfect accent piece to a perfect day. The food was delicious, the beverages were hot, and the gifts were unique. I hope I can return again soon.

Spend an afternoon!

The old churches on the square are beautiful and so different from one another, architecture-wise. The plaza square is also so wide open with LOTS of space to walk and admire all of the sites and sights!

We popped on a train around 6.30pm from Stuttgart to visit the Christmas market. 10 minutes later we were walking down the street to the main square. The whole square was filled with stalls and it was very busy. There were fairy lights hanging from all the buildings and the smell of mulled wine filled the air; the atmosphere was great! There were old fashioned rides for children and lots of yummy food and drink. The stalls were selling a wide variety of items and they all looked very festive; we bought some great things! Overall it was well worth the quick (and cheap) train from Stuttgart to experience it!

We sometimes go there on saturdays for shopping on the weekly market. It's always a nice atmosphere and you can get really nice vegetables, fruit etc.
We also love to go there for the christmas market! It's really worth a visit.

Every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7am until 1pm, and on Saturdays from 7am to 2pm, there is a regular and quite large market held here, ideal for picking up lovely fresh fruit, vegtables, meats and cheeses. There are also a couple of flower stalls too! Just be aware that the food market moves to Rathaushof whenever an event requires the space, such as the highly popular Christmas market that runs here from mid-November. If you visit when no market or event is taking place, the Marktplatz has a nice fountain and is surrounded by some interesting buildings, but can be quite void of atmosphere, except for the sound of the church organs, organ grinders and other visitors.

We called in to Ludwigsburg whilst on our travels, specifically because it is twinned with our home town of Caerphilly in Wales UK.

While we were on our way to visit the palace, we stumbled upon this wonderful area, full of cafes & Architecture flanked on either side by two particularly impressive buildings. This time we did not linger, next time we certainly will.
