The sanctuary of the Merciful is situated about 10 kilometers from Todi. There is a big affluence. The pool is open on Monday from 10.00 AM, Thursday and Saturday from 03.30 PM. Thursday the pool is closed in the winter season from November to February. After the mass the pilgrims are invited to take a bath. Miraculous healing is reported. The shrine is linked to Mother Speranza Alma de Jesus. Pope Francis presented in the Vatican a decree to investigate the miracles.

I love all the old churches here in Umbria, from San Michele Arcangelo on and with the Roman ruins in Perugia,on through the Gothic cathedral in Orvieto, the Baroque churches around, but I was very impressed with the interior of this santuary, light and airy and welcoming.

I visited the Santuario on February. It was very crowded, but there was parking very close by, I personally did not 'feel' the atmosphere here, but there were many pilgrims who obviously did. I visited during a Mass, which was a mini bonus as I didn't realise until I entered that it was in progress! Madre Speranza is very revered locally and in Italy particularly. I have 2 Italian friends who have at various times taken sick children to visit, and both are convinced that their subsequent recoveries were because of the intervention of Madre Speranza
I think the architecture of the Santuario is a matter of personal taste, and not really mine. It stands out from the soft rolling hills of Umbria, not in a good way . If you are visiting in summer there are 2 nice restaurants nearby, Le Torre just over the road in the medieval centre, food excellent, and Massimos, just along the road, where everything , particularly meat is raised by him.
There is a bar and a small cafeteria on the premises. Might be worth taking a picnic as the surrounding countryside is fabulous.

Worth a visit. It is quite a climb but one can walk around and come in from the back of the building.
