It was around 4h trip from Prague in a nice bus. Better to book in advance
We reached there late afternoon and the place was a beauty
The hotel we stayed is an old house with all facilities call Convice
Very nice place with a nice restaurant
Good dessert outlet and pls try

The Christmas market was fabulous
Many local and foreign stalls with many verities of food and drinks
The giant Christmas trees was beautiful

Next day we went to the castle another masterpiece of Bohemia. And the city tour was fantastic
We recommend you to stay 2 nights to cover the whole city and enjoy the beauty

I'm so glad I did this tour. Sarka (pronounced Sharka) is a local who has lived in the town her whole life, and you can tell she really enjoys sharing it with visitors. This is not some by the book tour where your guide rattles off names and dates. She was so friendly, open to questions, gave us some local perspective as well as the historical stuff, and yes we went overtime with our tour. It was 250 CZK but well worth it. I saw her leading another group the next day and she was equally friendly and happy!

I met a few people who thought they would walk around town on their own to save money, but doing that you miss so much ! It's a small town that doesn't take long to walk through, and on your own you don't get a taste of the stories and history.
This tour actually really complemented the tour of the castle interior, which I did in the afternoon. That was a bit more traditional names-and-dates, but the interiors of the castle were stunning. The stories on the two tours complemented each other well. I would strongly recommend doing both, on a day in Cesky Krumlov, it is not too much, as both are just over 90 minutes each (one morning and one afternoon).... which leaves plenty of time to wander around this small town on your own. The history is a bit involved so it doesn't hurt to do more than one tour.

One other recommendation - skip the castle museum... it's more on the 19th C and onwards - I didn't find it that interesting. (There is some earlier stuff but not so much). Right now the gardens aren't much (only just the start of spring) but in summer they will be lovely and just a lovely place to spend time relaxing and soaking up the atmosphere.

Our guide in particular made this walking tour something special. Even though we did this tour on our last day, I can imagine that it is a perfect way to start off your trip to Cesky Krumlov.

As mentioned above, our guide made this trip excellent. She had great knowledge of the history of Cesky Krumlov, and the area in general, reaching from the first foundations of the castle to the recent communist times and Cesky Krumlov today. She was well able to answer any question our tour group had. The guide made it even more impressive my taking us where we wanted, and not just walk us through a pre scheduled tour. A real expert on Cesky Krumlov.

Our tour ended up at the castle after walking through the old town for about two hours. On our way up, we were shown hidden things on special buildings, and were given explanations to things we did not even know we wanted the answer too.

I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Cesky Krumlov. Tickets could be bough at the tourist information sites in the town, and the meeting place is on the main square close to Hotel Grand, Hotel Old Inn etc.

This Medieval City in the Czech Republic is a must see. The city is so well preserved and wandering through it's little cobblestone streets, wandering over the bridge ,finally walking up to the castle that overlooks this delightful city still covered with a dusting of snow was breathtaking. We were fortunate to be there at a time when there was a medieval parade leading from the castle down to all the little streets of the town. Ladies in velvet gowns sitting sidesaddle on horses, pages playing flutes, flag waving jugglers - an unexpected treat. If you go to the CzechRepublic this is a place you must go.

Enjoy a walking tour of the small town in the South Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. The town and its castle were built on the Vlata River in the 13th century which was a important trade route in Bohemia. The well preserved old structures are mostly Gothic, Renaissance and Barque style. Look at the stunning castle from the old bridges over the dramatically meandering Vlatva or Moldau River. You can look over the castle. The town has been listed on the Unesco World Heritage list since 1992.
The historical centre has cobbled streets. The well preserved old structures are mostly Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque style.

Karolina was easy to deal with and making our arrangements by email was a breeze. Her English is very good and she arranged purchase of our Castle tickets as I had read the ticket sellers at the Castle were not that easy or pleasant to deal with. After the Castle tour, we did a private walking tour with Karolina and very much enjoyed her local knowledge and enthusiasm for her town. She gave us some great local tips and recommendations. I would highly recommend her services.

We went on this tour today and it was fantastic. Since it is low season we were the only 2 people attending and so got a wonderful personalised 1.5 hour tour of the town. Karolina grew up in the region and really knows her stuff. She was able to give an in depth history of the town and surrounds as well as some insight into Czech culture.
It was absolutely fascinating. We really came away feeling we had a better understanding of the country and culture.
Highly recommend this tour!

The "free" tour is about to put Krumlov Tours out of business. And why pay a tour guide when you do not need to? When my wife and I arrived for the tour, there were about 20 people gathered for the "free" tour and we were the only ones signed up for the paid tour. We were the only ones that made the wise choice!
As the other reviews attest, Karolina knows her stuff and could answer any question we had. We got a personalized, in-depth tour. for 1 1/2 hours. I only wish we could have hired her for the castle too.
Oh, the "free" tour? The guide lacks experience and knowledge, but hits you up for "tips" in the end of his one hour monologue.

We drove down from Prague for the day and found Cesky Krumlov to be everything we had been told. It is a very beautiful place with lots of interesting sights. We had a 90 minute guided tour with Karolina that we booked through the information centre on the main Square. Thankfully it was still quiet with the tourist season about to start in a few weeks so we could get to see the place without it crawling with people.

The town is very interesting and has lots of history. It is extremely photogenic, a blind man could take excellent photos here, anywhere you point the camera you are sure to get something good.

Karolina is an excellent guide. She gave us a really good tour and answered all of our questions even things unrelated to Cesky Krumlov itself. She speaks English beautifully so understanding her was no problem at all. The best thing was that she really has a love of the place and this comes through in her explanations and demonstrations. Should you decide to take a tour there I strongly suggest you ask for her.

It took us nearly 3 hours each way to drive from Prague due to road works etc but it was well worth it. Should you find yourself with a day spare, a visit to Cesky Krumlov should be high on your list of things to do.

We had a tour of Cesky Krumlov with Karolina as our guide. She gave us a wonderful insight into so many aspects of Czech history, both recent and more distant. She was happy to discuss our many questions, even when these deviated from the immediate sights at hand. We felt a much better connection with local life and the people. We were particularly happy that we had Karolina to ourselves as this level of interaction would not have been possible with a large tour group. I highly recommend this walking tour to set the context for the beautiful sights of Cesky Krumlov.
