Wonderful Architecture and a Better Story
This beautiful cathedral has amazing architectural features inside and out. The tragic story of Barbara makes this place even more special. Take your time as you tour the gorgeous interior and explore the side chapels, as they too have some very special things to share. Take note of the features dedicated to the countless miners who made Kutna Hora the very special place that it was for many years. We had a guided tour and I would highly suggest that if you can make it happen. Try the gift shop. They have some high quality items to commemorate your visit here.

    Beautiful UNESCO world heritage site
This cathedral is absolutely gorgeous, and they have a fantastic, lengthy audio tour that is well worth your time, they really go into detail on the beautiful paintings and stained glass windows around the main altar. It's a stunning cathedral, with so much history throughout. If you're making your way to Kutna Hora, don't miss St. Barbara's!

    Huge and impressive
Of the many churches we visited in Prague, this one is particularly stunning and well worth the journey. It has five naves and stunning buttresses. Also worth climbing the spiral staircase to view the huge organ

Well worth the effort to get there, and takes a full day
This is an amazing Cathedral with a crazy ancient history. We had been in Prague for two weeks looking at many churches, basilicas and cathedrals, so we were unsure if it was going to be worth the all-day trip including train rides just to see one more. It was. The Cathedral itself is quite incredible, but the history of events over hundreds of years was mind boggling. I am surprised the Cathedral was actually finished; given what happened. Allow plenty of time if you want to read all the information boards. I photographed them all and read them later, but I recommend you read the brochure you get at the ticket office, as you go around. It is really useful. There is mainly coffee and the donut things at the actual cathedral, but if you walk down into the built up area, there are several cafes and restaurants to choose from. There are several buses that go from the train station past the Cathedral, and you pay on the bus. When you come back to the station, it is tricky to ensure you are catching the correct train back to Prague, so allow yourself plenty of time, as it may be the platform on the far side that you need to be on. We wanted to buy tickets but found nowhere to buy them, and there was no ticket inspectors on the train, so it was a free ride for us. By the way, the bone chapel is at Sedlec some distance away, so if you want to do both, and get the last express train back, (before a long wait till the next one), you need to leave Prague early; say about 9:30 am.

My friend and I came to Kunta Hora primarily for the ossuary and althrough we knew that the town was also supposed to be stunning neither of us did our research before going. So we were absolutely stunned when we turned the corner and saw this absolutely gorgeous cathedral rising up above the vineyards in front of us. This was, in my opinion, the absolute star of our trip. the cathedral was beautiful, the paintings inside were stunning, there was a ton of great information about the history of the town and its development as well as the cathedral itself. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to see this in person and would strongly strongly recommend making the trip to see it!

St Barbara’s Cathedral in Kutna Hora is a beautiful church that sits on top of a hill overlooking a valley. The church features stunning stained glass windows that adorn the ground floor of the church. The upper part of the church can be reached by stairs and it is less elaborately adorned but you can see up close the church organ at the back as well as there is a small balcony you can look out from.

I really liked all the stained glass windows. There were a lot of them and all were very nice. The inner balconies were open, so after climbing 84 stairs you could see the interior of the cathedral from above. There was an exhibition of sculptures on the balconies and you could have seen the beautiful organ very close, you could almost touch them. Entrance fee was 120,- CZK per adult. Takeing pictures without flash was allowed.

We had only 90 minutes here and regretted it hugely. Incredibly beautiful building with the most glorious elegant flying buttresses and spiral staircases.

The buttress system was pretty impress and well as the Fresco's. The church dating to the 1400's was build in phases. The silver mines provided the monies to build the church as well as other buildings in the city. Generally a very nice church that still holds Sunday services.

Kutna Hora_a picturesque medieval town, part of the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage, about 60 km east of Prague. The history of this city is inseparably connected with the mining of silver ores, in 14th & 15th centuries, the silver mine from here was providing about 30% of European production of silver. Saint Barbara Cathedral is, for sure, the most important touristic attraction of this town, on second place in the Kingdom of Bohemia, after Prague. The cathedral was constructed under the patronage of the miners and was consecrated in the name of their patron saint, the Virgin Saint Barbora. It's a masterpiece of old gothic architecture and her story worth to be known! In a sunny autumn day of October it was fantastic to see this charming cathedral! But this wonderful town is more than that, so you may also visit the Hradek Mine Museum, Italian Court_originally a Royal Mint once produced Prague groschen, one of the most stable currencies in Europe at that time_Saint James Church, etc. As I've already told you, for know more you have to see and, most important...........you have to go there! Enjoy your trip, my dear travelers!

A very beautiful cathedral. would recommend a tour guide to provide information on the history of the inside of the cathedral, as there is a lot to see and understand, if that's your kind of thing. Lot's of town history with many coats of arms on the vaulted ceilings. Beautiful mini chapels surround the interior of the church. The more extravagant the chapel, the more money the owner had. Amazing acoustics. Enjoy a walk outside where the pathway has lovely statues and some great pizza at the bottom of the stairs.
