Neighborhood: Malá Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighborhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighborhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

Guys,
We come from Italy, but we are not tourists. We live in Kampa just a few steps from IF Cafe. We have never eaten such disgusting sweets.
They seem to be plastic, and so they are: no smell, cardboard taste. The cookies were extremely hard.
The coffee was also crappy, but in the Czech Republic this is a normal issue.
Fa cagare, ragazzi.
AVOID.

Used to walk by the Werichova vila everyday from school when I lived in Prague years ago. Over the years It slowly deteriorated, at least it seemed that way from the outside.
It was good to see it being repaired over time and I was happy to see it finished and converted into museum and a fantastic cafe.
We stopped by one day after walking through Kampa. There was a $100 charge for the museum, but I think it covered both us. Hopefully I am not wrong, it has been a while.
We found the museum interesting because Jan Werich was famous Czech personality, actor and comedian. But I don't think it will be of much interest to others.
I was always curious how the vila looked inside, we looked at the displays on several floors and basement.
The highlight was the Cafe. They were hopping busy on a nice sunny afternoon, serving coffee and refreshments inside and outside on the patio.
They have the absolute best cakes ...and we definitely will be back in the Cafe next year....

A few weeks ago we went sightseeing with our kids in centrum of Prague and after getting tired we found this place for a refreshment. We could not find a better option! Even when the place was crowded the service was nice and welcoming (could be a bit faster) and the cakes were just amazing! The prices were a bit higher but definetely deserved that. Now when we take our kids to the Charles bridge they will ask to visit this place again :-).

I was looking for a nearby breakfast place to recommend to the guests at my rental apartment Prague Most Romantic apartment in Luzickeho Seminare. The IF café in the recently restored Werichova Villa in Kampa is a delight. It is a beautiful building just at the beginning of Kampa Island – the park. The Villa was the home of Jan Werich, the famous Czech actor and writer – known as the ‘Wise Clown’. It is set back off the pathway. It offers tours of the house and cultural events.
We visited their IF café just as they opened at 8am and were their first customers of the day. It was a hot day but inside was comfortable and immaculately clean. It was also very restful as the large windows frame the trees in the park. There is also outside seating, ice cream sales and a charming painted wooden rocking horse.
We had fresh orange juice, ham and cheese omelettes, good bread, coffee and a small cake. It was the best breakfast we have had in a long time anywhere and the best we have ever found in Prague. Service was attentive, without being pushy and the toilets were clean and well maintained. It is not cheap but seems reasonable value given the quality and the stylish presentation. Small suggestion: it would be so much nicer to be offered a reasonably sized and reasonably priced pot of coffee, as their cup of coffee did not suffice and went a little cold quickly. We’ll be back – for breakfast or hopefully a pot of coffee and some of their splendid cakes on an afternoon visit.

The revitalized old house in a park was a home a famous Czech actor and is a sanctuary for Czech people. The new owners (the same as of Kampa Museum) succeeded to find the right between tradition and new life. I love this place and enjoy the cozy cafe with delicious pastries. Very good for breakfast, too!

Just when we were giving up on ever finding a place to have a decent coffee and a break from strolling around, we stumbled across this busy but slick cafe underneath the gallery museum near the Charles bridge. Clean, stylish and pleasant buzzing interior. The selection of patisserie was eye-catching and too good to miss. We shared a 'liqueur spike', which we wolfed down in seconds, it was so good. The coffee was perfect strength, smooth flavour, and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and efficient, with an attention to detail. Well worth a visit. I defy you to forego a cake!

It is nice to see this beautiful house opened to public. It is in a lovely park of Kampa. You can (after paying an admission ) walk through the villa yourself and spent whatever time you want. This place definitely has a genius loci. The architecs have done a great job by combining modern elements and materials with original old equipment. All done with a high sense. The place also offers various cultural events - see the program sheet. After the tour of the house definitely do not miss to visit the patisserie in the ground floor - IF cafe. They have a great coffee and absolutely outstanding deserts. It is a must!!!

While the place has genius loci and the desserts are tasty and nice, the whole experience we had (repeatedly) was not pleasant because of the incompetent staff. When we entered, we were not greeted by the staff (two bored people busy chatting among themselves) and waited for 10 minutes just to be given the menu. Add another 10-15 minutes for staff to return to take the order. Then add another 20-30 minutes for your coffee to arrive. Pay and go (add additional half an hour for the process). Do not expect any greeting or even an attempt to ask about your experience when you leave. So this Friday, when we entered and waited first 10 minutes to be noticed (the place was half-empty), we decided to leave and walked to another place (we chose Smetana Q instead).
While I am a fan of Jan Werich and while we genuinely like Ms. Mladkova and have an aptitude for fine desserts without fussing about the price, we expect certain standards in places which treat customers. Unfortunately Werichova vila treats customers like they are a nuisance.

Werich's Museum at Kampa Park is great remembrance of popular czech actor Jan Werich. Is is situated in beautiful surroundings of historical Kampa Park and you can easily reach other points of interes in center of Prague.
