Visited this historical castle while on a European holiday in late August 2019. This 14th centuary castle which sits pirched atop a cliff is very interesting. There is also a lookout to take in the breath taking view of the area (but is a little steep). There is a restaurant & some shops at the base of the cliff.

Fascinating place to visit , enjoyed it very much, transport recommended as its quite a walk from Usti nad Labem station or Strekov . There are places to park , but still walking to be done .

Wonderful, mysterious and cheap. Probably the best Middle-Age castle I have seen and the most interesting spot in the area in my opinion. Luckily enough it was not too windy and cold.

We cycled to Strekov Castle in a group of 7. What a great decision to stop here for lunch. We were able to have lunch on the patio, overlooking the river. Food was great, and the beer was cold. Service is fantastic, and the brief tour was just enough to give you a taste of the history. Stop if you can!

The castle has been built on a high rock above the Labe river. Views are fantastic from the castle. You can walk through the preserved castle buildings and ruins individually (you get a printed guide) or join a guided group). There are information notices, you can learn a lot of interesting information of it, in the rooms, there are small exhibitions - old photos, copies of period paintings and genuine antique tiles. The castle is really lovely, I didn't expect so much, but it is amazing.

A little bit outside the town up a steep hill but worth the effort. A charming restaurant serving excellent czech food at very reasonable prices. Worth the effort to visit

We stayed in Usti nad Labem on a River Elbe cruise. There was plenty of time to walk along the road walk over the lock and under the railway line to begin climbing the windy road to the top of the castle.
Signage in the castle could be a little better but we were given a crib sheet in English to help. The climb is not for the faint hearted but the views from the top are well worth the trip.

The castle is quite small but you can spend about 1 hour here visiting and admiring the views. There is also a nice restaurant and walking trip if you want to stay in the area longer. We walked into Strekov and to the lookout post afterwards.
Entry price is very reasonable and during July/ August you can wander around with a paper guide rather than having to book a tour guide. English translation is a bit lacking in detail but there are more signs explaining each part of the castle - remember that not much is original because of the way it was left in ruins 200 years ago. Finally, there are a lot of stairs so be prepared to work the legs!
