First of all you don't need to go to the exact train stop for the World of MIniatures. Electra and Carolina are close enough and you don't need to keep waiting for trams.
I thought the World of Miniatures should have had more buildings and more to look at. I was considering giving it a poor review - but my kids pointed out it was fun and enjoyable.
Don't expect much - but for 30 minutes or so its an interesting enough stop.

When I was a child I loved going along to miniature villages. Most of them have gone now, so when I saw that Ostrava had such an attraction I couldn't resist.
The first thing to say about all miniature villages is that they are kitsch and belong to a 1950s world view. If you understand that then everything makes a lot more sense.
They are also always set out amongst beautiful gardens with flower exhibits complimenting the miniatures. This was no exception and if you are passionate about your daisies and dahlias then then that will add another level of enjoyment for you.
This exhibition comprises of buildings and statues from around the world. The Reichstag, Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower and all manner of other famous buildings have been recreated in miniature and placed around the gardens. Then there is a miniature train track that meanders into around and through the exhibits which the miniature trains run along.
The second part of the exhibition reimagines the seven wonders of the ancient world and presents you with the Great Pyramid, the hanging gardens of Babylon, The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, The Statue of Zeus at Mount Olympus in Athens, The Lighthouse of Alexandria, The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus and The Colossus of Rhodes (looking a lot like Lady Liberty without her robe on).
For at least some of these we don't actually know what the originals looked like but the modellers have placed their own interpretation on them.
Then their is the water exhibit with a cruise liner apparently anchored at sea whilst hoses and fountains flow.
It takes about half an hour to walk around the exhibition but there is also an indoor part to it and a cafe to eat lunch and a cup of tea or soda.
Some model villages I have seen have little people placed about the exhibition and some add elements of humour. This exhibition does not have that element to it, it is about the modelling.
Like everything we say in Ostrava there is a sense of having seen better days, and I think this is to do with the way in which the city is having to reinvent itself now that its industry has changed. The model village has this sense also, but don't let it stop you visiting. The entrance price is minimal by English standards and it is an enjoyable way to spend some time in Ostrava. Just channel your former eight year old and enjoy the surroundings. It rained whilst we were there and we still had fun under the umbrellas

It is really small. Thirty minutes is enough. There is always some exposition at the entrance which may be better than the park.
Not many miniature buildings, but there is model railway going around the park.
Good with kids, you can spend there nice hour or so.

Where else can you see the leaning tower of Pisa and Big Ben in close proximity? Or all 7 Wonders of the Ancient World? And the 'large' Eiffel Tower is very impressive. Lots of other very well made famous buildings well laid out in a small outdoor area, including some lesser known but attractive buildings from Central and Eastern Europe. Indoors there are some very well made wooden models of castles etc and famous ships including the Golden Hinde and Titanic

The museum consists two parts: the first is in the biulding and sometimes changes; last time I've seen there maquetes of some churches and ships.
More interesting part is outside: many european buildings with the same scale (nice to compare) and historical 7 wonders of the world. Enjoy!

This one is closed for a year. Will never be opened again due to construction site of new houses on a spot of world of miniatures. Also was not worth a visit so don't be sad.

I guess this is more acticity for kids but even with them you will have it in few minutes walked.
There is some interesting buildings and its nice park. However it seems it has the best years already behind. Nice to have a short walk and look.

Loved this place, so cute and interesting! Kids and adults will love it here, and in Easter they were holding an Easter egg hunt.

Lovely place if you have time to wander around Ostrava you should definitely visit.
We were in Ostrava during the Colours festival and since we had bracelets for the festival we paid half the price for the tickets and it was a nice surprise.
The stuff doesn't speak English, but they are very helpful and nice.
