My friend and I had such an incredibly fun day on the fishing tour offered by this company. The tour guide spoke excellent English and was very insightful about local Vietnamese culture in Hoi An. We were picked up from our hotel and were driven to the waterfront where we boarded a boat. From there, we were taken to a fishing post in the middle of the water where we learned how to fish the traditional Vietnamese way by a lovely fishing couple! We were taken on a ride in the bamboo basket boat, which was a lot of fun and was quite challenging to master. We met local fishermen along the journey who were so delightful and happy to share with us stories about their daily lives. We ended the tour with a delicious Hoi An dish called cao lau. Please do not leave Hoi An without trying this dish as you will not be able to find it anywhere else! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time on this tour and will happily recommend this company to any visitor to Hoi An who are looking for both adventure and culture.

I would not hesitate to book through this company-Mr Philong the owner of the company was very professional and friendly.

The tours were amazing, and affordable-well worth the money!

Do yourself a favour and book with this company when visiting Hoi An!!

My wife and I had a fantastic afternoon on the coconut boat tour. Everything about it was special, from riding the water buffalo to crab fishing in the coconut boats on the river. A special shout out to our guide Johnny Hoa who truly went above and beyond to make the trip special for us, with bits of information throughout. The meal at the end was well beyond our expectations. They call it a snack...for us it was a three course meal! Amazing and thank you !

My friend and I wanted to join a fishing tour but did not find one which met our budget. The ones that are offered at the hotels we stayed in ranged 50 USD to 60 USD per trip. We searched the Internet and found Ecotour Hoi An which offered a half day fishing tour with lunch at a price of 28 USD.

It turned out to be value-for-money. Perhaps the only downside was that we went on a day which was so cold and windy we were shivering all the way in the boat. So please remember to dress warm during the winter season.

The tour boat brought us to a fishing village near a coconut forest when we were taught how to row a bamboo basket boat. It looks easy but it's really quite difficult. The local fisherman who taught us how to row the basket boat was really nice and sweet and gave us a nice souvenir made from coconut leaves. We were then brought to a large fishing net in deeper waters near another village when a couple taught us how to bring the large fishing net in and out of the waters. Again, it was really difficult and we never imagined that so much strength was needed to do this. We left the tour not only with a deeper understanding of fishing life in Hoi An, but also a deep admiration for the fishermen at work.

After fishing, we were brought to a local restaurant where we were served Cao Lau, a local noodle dish with pork slices unique to Hoi An. The restaurant is not the usual big Chinese restaurant with hoards of tourist. It was a small family restaurant. The Cao Lau was really tasty and a lot more delicious than the Cao Lau we ate at the night market the previous night.

Our guide, Mr Ron, spoke good English and was really informative. I personally felt he took pride in his job and tried to maximise our learning and enjoyment. He also took initiative in helping me to take some photos on my camera while our hands were full with the boat paddle and hoisting nets. Tom, the boat driver, was really cheery and friendly and made our trip an enjoyable one altogether.

Hopefully Eco tour Hoi An will keep their tours affordable and personal!

I didn't really know what to expect when we booked this tour; our hotel was steering us towards the well-known Eco "Jack Tran" tour (No3 on TA), but at double the price of this tour, we decided on the fishing tour with this company was more suited to our budget and I'm glad we did-it only had a few reviews, but all were very positive and had varied activities. It was easy enough to organize the day, I just emailed to arrange it the day before and you pay on the boat. I got an quick reply to confirm the pick up. It was a great morning. We were picked up at our hotel by our friendly guide Sinh, and taken to our boat which we had all to ourselves. The driver was friendly and it was really relaxing. Sinh was on hand to give us information about the town and the sights along the river. Then we tried to paddle in the bamboo boat, harder than it looks but we had a lot of fun with our guide showing us how-I think we almost got it! Then back on the boat to try our hand at bamboo net fishing. We met a very youthful-looking fisherman (70 years old!!-looked 50!) who was very funny and friendly. He showed us how to climb up on the platform and use our feet to hoist the huge net out of the water! It was hard work but with some help we managed it! No wonder this guy looks so young doing this a few times a day! We then went on a small boat to collect our fish from the net! We caught some small fish and some shrimp, which we tried raw! I think my boyfriend would have liked to have stayed there all day-we had a lot of fun with the fisherman, he was laughing and joking with us, even though he only spoke a little English, Sinh was translating for us. After we said goodbye to our new friend, we headed through some smaller lanes to look at the bamboo and coconut palms. After a relaxing drive back to the pier we went to a restaurant with Sinh and had the best Cao Lau we have tasted so far. We have had the dish a few times at different restaurants in Hoi An, but this one was so flavourful, and fresh, we had to have a second bowl! I think this was a really unique experience, what I liked most is the suprise element of the day, I had no idea we would be fishing with the huge net, and I get the feeling they tailor the day to suit the group-size they have; I think for a big group it would take a lot of time to do the huge net fishing, so maybe you do with a small net, and because it was just the two of us, we got a really unique, special experience just for us! At 28 dollars per person, I don't think you can get better value for money than this trip.

Great tour and introduction to the natural beauties Hoi An has to offer. We were well looked after by our kind, genuine and knowledgable Tour guide and host, Mr Philong! We definitely got more than we paid for and got to experience 'off the beaten path' Hoi An. You wont be disappointed by the friendly and hospitable nature of the beautiful Vietnamese!

My partner and I had very high expectations after reading all these awesome reviews. This tour was ok, our guide was a sweet lady who spoke good English but spent most of the boat journey on her phone. The boat driver didn't speak to us at all and there were no stories or detailed information given about the sights that we were seeing. We did ask some questions which were answered, although we felt that this wasn't her passion or that she was an official tour guide. We had a boat to ourselves which was lovely although the best part of it; the actual fishing, didn't last very long at all! Crabbing around the coconut trees in a small bamboo basket was incredible but again, it was over all too quickly! Then, 40 minute return journey to the fish market and sat down for lunch. The food was ok.

For us, we didn't feel like this was a fishing tour; more like a boat ride with some fishing thrown in. Our guide was lovely and sweet but I think this was the biggest difference from all the other reviews.

It was certainly good value for money for a half day trip!

Picked up on time from our hotel in Da Nang. Our guides were friendly and we enjoyed the day on the water. Nice meal to finish. Much cheaper than booking through hotel.
