The New Yashima Aquarium is much like its previous incarnation, but with a much-needed new coat of paint. It is small, but usually there are less crowds than larger aquariums, so you can get right up to the tanks and enjoy seeing the displays at leisure. Be sure to stay for the seal and dolphin shows. The dolphin show is notable because they are in a tank, so not only do you get a view of aerial moves, but they do some stunts underwater as well. The seal is a baby and still learning, but that adds some charm to the overall production. The whole aquarium has a homey, welcome atmosphere.

I found it a bit expensive to get in, but it's worth it. Make sure to catch the fun dolphin show; since the whole place is small, you'll get a good view of the show no matter where you are in the audience. You can touch starfish and other creatures, which was really fun and interesting.

The tanks are tiny, the water is green and disgusting. These poor animals are in such horrible condition. It was actually very sad to see. This place should be shut down and sited for animal cruelty. It's expensive to get in and totally NOT worth the money. We should have just gone whale and dolphin watching in the ocean instead.

This aquarium was horrific! The dolphins were kept in a tank that was green and tiny. The penguins surroundings consisted of a plastic mat and a tiny pool and the other marine life were also housed in small, cramped conditions. The cruelty was unbelievable. The people who run this aquarium could learn a lot from Googling other zoos/aquariums. We are from Melbourne and the zoo and aquarium in our home town are modern and more respectful and caring of the animal life that they display.

Japan is well known for hunting Dolphins, killing most of the pod and selling some to Aquariums to be bullied into tricks for food, taken from the wild where they swim hundreds of miles to a small green tank where the majority die of broken spirit. This is also quite an expensive visit. Do not visit as encouraged more dolphin hunting. Best way to see Dolphins is in the wild and some places in Japan are selling dolphin and whale watching trips.

Truly the worst I’ve ever seen. Tiny , dirty tanks, sad animals, sea lions, penguins large turtles, hardly moving out of boredom and despair! Pitiful dolphin show. I forgot to check reviews before going and yes overpriced and an insult to the viewer and a tragedy for the animals..
AVOID! And don’t let your kids think this is OK as it is not.
