A wide nature reserve with impressive landscapes. A must see in Entre Rios.

People at Colon is particularly kind, and moving to El Palmar (about 30 miles to the norh) doesn't make any change. Tourist office recepcionist and park cashier seems very friendly people, eager to inform us in deep, so we can enjoy the most of the time we spend there avoiding every risk (is almost the wild nature at least).

With such as complete information you can plan your visit to the wide park according to your preferences.

We travel to El Palmar in a cloudy day of september. It was not as good as we would have liked for take impressive or even dramatic pictures, but it was really smooth for our skin. A mild day without suffering and without mosquitoes.

As El Palmar is located in a subtropical zone, I can guess that visit it in the middle of the summer should be a suffocating experience, but in september springtime is rising and temperature doesn't go up in extreme. About 23/25 ºC ( 73 to 77 ºF).

At the river coast you'll find a visitor services place with restaurant, fast-food, rest places and sanitation to make a comfortable break in your visit.

It is a place to visit in the way you like: childrens expedition, friends group, family or just couples.

Nice visit

You have to pay to enter the park and then pay again to camp . This makes it an expensive overnight stop. About £30!!! The toilets are adequate. There is electric hookup.
The Park itself is great! Lots of miradors and walks. In the campsite the lovely little plains viscachas come out at dusk. There is a busy little cafe by the campsite.

Large park populated by a very unique specie of palm three. Abundant fauna.
dub 2017
A unique park along the shore of the Uruguay River. The roads are paved, and also are dirt roads but well maintained. Any car can negotiate the dirt roads.
Its exhibit thousands of samples of a local specie of palm threes.
I has a sandy beach that would be a stop during the hot months, and many trails.
Plenty of local fauna. Best time to see deer and jaguars is at sunrise. The Tapirs, local fauna, a giant rodent, can be seen all day long.
Many species of birds.
The park is well maintained, an the flora is unique.

How to 'do' the Nacional Parque El Palmar
kvě 2017 • Rodina
Firstly, get there early if you dont want to hang about in the queue to pay to get in.

Plan to stay for a day if you want to walk everywhere, or a good half day if you want to drive about everywhere.

We arrived at 11.00, and went horse riding for an hour (pre booked) do the horses were ready. Otherwise there are rides every couple of hours throughout the day and you can just turn up.

By 12, we had a very relaxed picnic in the park by the visitors centre, lots of space for kids to run around so take a football.

By 2pm we were ready for the hike to ruins along the river, A great walk for kids, mine are 6,7, 12 and 13 some nice view points of the river on the way. Its only 1km to the ruins so it takes somewhere between 15-30 mins with kids in tow.

The ruins are sadly a bit disappointing, there isn't really anything to see, as it has been taken over by the forest and industry. However there is space for a run around in the 'cemetery' and there is a nice beach to have another picnic on!.

Once back at the main part of the park there is a small visitors centre, a restaurant, campsite, food bar and toilets.

On the way out of the park we drove to La Gloria , and the second view point (forgotton name)

You can easily stay in the park for a few days as there is a campsite, it is a very nice place to chill out and relax, hike or do nothing.

We finally left at 16h30 after a relaxed 'no rush' day.

I advice you to take sun tan lotion, OFF and bottled water

we loved it
:)

Cool place for a half day/day visit
dub 2016 • Jednotlivci
A nice national park. I went from the city of Colon ... There are about 5-7 buses a day going to Ubajay and it takes about an hour. I think my bus was at 6.55 am. Ask the driver to stop at El Palmar. From there you have the entrance to the park... You pay according to your nationality. I think for non South Americans it's about 150 pesos. The reason I don't know is because when I arrived the ticket building wasn't open so I had no choice but to just walk through. A national park van drove past and must have seen me looking confused but said nothing. I started the ten km walk to the river where the campsite, restaurant and info centre is etc. After a couple of km a national park van drove past and offered me a lift. I went on a Monday but the restaurant and horse riding and everything else was closed so there was little point going all the way to the river as the two main walking trails are between the entrance and the river anyway and the river was quite ugly. Do still get a lift to the walking trails if you can. On the way back I had to wait for quite a while before finally a national park van drove past and gave me a lift to the road where I then caught a bus back to Colon. Overall it is pretty unique scenery that I am glad I saw but I must admit that while I was expecting to spend a full day there, I was both tired (from walking so much) and a little bored of the scenery which is quite repetitive. So worth a half day visit I think. I saw many foxes and capybaras which was cool.

Great park

This park has a large campground with electricity. There are not many toilet blocks. The campground has a big restaurant and a mirador overlooking the Uruguay river. There are about 3 longish driving trails. It is the right distance from Buenos Aires to make an excellent first night stop on your way north. We would use it again.

If you are in Entre Rios and you like the nature is a place you must visit
říj 2015 • Pár
The National Park El Palmar is located on the center-west of the province of Entre Ríos around 60 km of the city of Colón. It was created for the preservation of its characteristic Yatay palm trees.
You can find history and old ruins, a beach, grassland and the Uruguay River.
Very nice place to visit, you can camping, and live here for a week walking around all the park.
